"They did a clean, professional job and the end product looked great. They installed 2 doors for me and when they were done you could swear the doors had always been there, they caulked and smoothed everything out to look great. They also answered a lot of my questions in order for me to get the correct doors to install (which they were able to pick up for me), and were able to provide a quote for several different things! Very friendly and polite too. Great service overall."

"Repaired water damaged base of kitchen cabinet and reinforced upper cabinets that were pulling away from the wall. He was punctual (even early!) and accomplished both projects quickly. Rates were fair and he was easy to work with. I highly recommend him!"

"We had 2 glass patio doors that needed to be replaced so we could install a dog door. Sherman came to our house within a day of calling him. He measured everything, made a list of items he would need, and sent us to Home Depot to order the door we wanted and the shopping list of supporting materials. Thus, we paid for the cost of materials directly to Home Depot. When everything arrived 10 days later, Sherman was available to install the door within 3 or 4 days. He picked up the door and materials from Home Depot, brought them to our home, arrived on time as promised and installed the doors within 3 hours. He began work on a dog door. Due to a parts mismatch that was the dog door's fault, not Sherman's, he had to find custom screws, available only from a specialty hardware store. He spent 2 hours finding these special screws, had them made, paid for them, and installed them. He spent more time on the trivial dog door than the incredibly well finished patio door. Our costs were $325 in labor, paid to Sherman after all work was completed, and the cost of materials, paid to Home Depot (about $700)."

"Taylor did a great job. He sanded, stained & sealed the door with several coats. Taylor even noticed that the edge of the door (where the hinges are attached) had apparently not been done well by the original installer so he also took care of refinishing and sealing that edge, something that could have gone unnoticed. He was easy to work with, he explained the entire process and he was polite & professional. I will definitely use Biggin's again. They also offer a very affordable maintenance program (every 12-18 months) which I intend to use. Our doors take a beating in the hot Texas sun but you would never know it after Taylor was finished!"

FAQs for doors (interior) installation and replacement projects in Adkins, TX

If your existing frame is in good shape, you can replace an interior door without changing the frame. This is a budget-friendly option because it saves on the cost of removing and installing a new frame. By choosing a slab door that fits your current frame, you'll save on labor and materials. Just make sure the new door matches the old one's dimensions for a smooth replacement.

Standard interior doors are 80 inches tall and range from 28 to 32 inches wide. Interior doors vary from 24 to 36 inches wide, depending on their purpose and the available space. Building codes require interior doors to be at least 80 inches tall and 24 inches wide. Knowing standard sizes helps you select a new door that fits properly in your existing opening.

It costs $600 to $2,000 or more to move an inside door. The total price depends on your location, the type of door, and materials needed to complete the project. Moving an interior door requires walling up the leftover space and opening up a new wall where you want the door to go instead. You’ll also want to plan for the expense of framing the new wall opening and adding trim.

Exterior door installation costs an average of $1,175, with a typical range of $525 to $1,800. The higher expense compared to the cost of interior doors comes from the need for exterior doors to be weather-proofed and they are often made of thicker, more durable materials. The associated exterior hardware must also be able to withstand harsh weather, so these cost more as well.

It costs between $300 to $2,500 to make a doorway wider on average. However, the wider you need the space to be, the more it will cost. Some homeowners choose to widen interior doorways to make the house more wheelchair accessible. In order to be wheelchair accessible, an interior door needs to be at least 32 to 36 inches wide. Also, some older homes just have narrow doorways due to the nature of how homes were built differently many decades ago.

It takes between two to five hours for a professional door installer to install an interior door, depending on complexity and materials. A pre-hung door typically takes around two hours, and larger doors like double French doors can take up to five hours. If you’re doing the project yourself, expect it to take a little longer than that, especially if you have little to no experience completing this type of project. Keep in mind that a pre-hung door can be installed about an hour or two faster than a slab door.
