"I've contacted Ben multiple times for projects (wiring/setting up doorbell camera, fixing outlets, wiring/installing florescent lights in garage) at our home. He always responds quickly and is flexible with setting up appointments. Exceptionally neat and clean work! Very professional and a pleasure to talk to. Ben will continue to be my contact for anything electrical!"

" We highly recommend Mendez Electric for any electrical and/or general construction work you need done on your home. We hired Mendez Electric, a multi-generational family business, in 2024 at the recommendation of a neighbor who had used them to completely rewire their 100-year-old home in Berkeley's Elmwood neighborhood. Mendez Electric did a full inspection and report of our electric system, which still included a lot of knob and tube. We ultimately hired Mendez Electric to undertake a major electrical project (six figure project) for our older home which included: 1) a complete system/wiring upgrade and installation of a 300 amp service panel upgrade. This work included all relevant permitting and coordination with PGE. Mendez Electric’s staff are highly knowledgeable, efficient, communicative, competitively priced and focused on high customer service. We have hired Mendez Electric in subsequent months to handle several smaller general construction projects, e.g., cement/sidewal"

"I contracted with Hector for two electrical projects. The first was for replacement of our 200 amp electrical panel. One problem I've had with contractors has been frustration at their lack of communication. Hector was always good at answering my calls, returning text messages, and keeping me informed. He did his work professionally for a reasonable price, so I hired him again to wire our shed. Again, he did the work professionally and kept me informed of his schedule. One area for improvement would be for him to pay more attention to what the customer says. Some work in our shed had been previously started with Romex installed through the studs. I told him this would need to be replaced with conduit per code. He again started installing Romex. He said he thought we would be installing sheet rock and it would cost more to change to conduit. But after I pointed out I had included flexible conduit in the written scope of work, he made the change with no additional cost or complaint."

"Steve and his crew of electricians did a fabulous job. They basically replaced the entire house’s electrical, all new switches and outlets in addition to all the new light fixtures in every room. They showed up on time, did what they said they would and addressed every issue encountered in the rehab. In addition, Steve was great helping me decide what to put where. An overall excellent experience. I would HIGHLY recommend Warner Electric for any electric job."

"Hector is an honest man, very informative and super effective. We hired him for electrical issues, he could’ve taken longer in order to charge us more but he didn’t. I was openly willing to pay for 2 hours, but he solved it in one. He explained all the issues, showed me what the problems were and how he was fixing them. He is a professional and solved our problem. Not only did he solve the problem but he cared about the safety of our home and family and shared many useful precautions and ways to identify unsafe outlets. We will be hiring him for more work. "

"We hired proper power electric to update lighting and switches in our home. Forest and foster showed up on time. They were professional and in sync with each other. We added recessed lighting, fan ,and outdoor lights to our new home. Forest made suggestion to add another switch down the hallway to make it easier to turn off lights when going to the room. Both were knowledgeable, helpful and very friendly. They even helped my neighbor with their solar panel system. We had a great experience and will definitely hire again. "

FAQs for electrical for home addition or remodel installation projects in Albany, CA

There are several telltale signs that your home is due for an electrical upgrade. You may need to rewire your house if your lights are constantly flickering or your circuit breaker keeps tripping. If you feel mild electric shocks when you touch light switches, hear buzzing sounds, or notice burning smells, you may need to rewire your house, too. Discolored or burnt-looking switches and faceplates are another crucial warning sign.

Properly installed copper wiring in a residential property can last as long as 50 to 100 years in some cases, but many homes over 30 years old are due for an upgrade. That’s the timeline that many experts recommend, even if it is only a partial update to accommodate technological advancements, increased power demands, and changing safety requirements.

At $3 to $5 per square foot, the cost to wire a 2,000-square-foot house ranges from $6,000 to $10,000, on average. This can depend on many factors, like the age and complexity of the house and how easy it is for contractors to access the areas they need to get the job done. Opening and repairing walls can further add to your total cost.
