"Pedro Roofing was an excellent company from start to finish. Customer service was on top of everything and my request for samples were responded to quickly. The crew were on time and professional; they thoroughly checked the grounds afterwards a few times for nails and such. The roof, solar fan and downspouts were installed. Everything looks great and I would highly recommend them."

"I think Gutter Helmet has the best product out there. It matches the color of the roof, so it blends in and doesn't stick out. It looks great and it really works! I am so excited that I never have to clean my gutters again! Lastly, they called me while was away, cause they were in the neighborhood and able to install it sooner than originally planned. I was a little hesitant, since I was not home to make sure they did everything I asked and also because I wasn't able to move planters and things on the patio that would have been in there way. I could not believe how careful and clean they were. I could not tell that they were there. They moved things and out everything back exactly how it was before. My only regret is that I didn't have Gutter Helmet install their product sooner!"

"This is the 2nd time I've used Toth Roofing. I had Steve replace my roof about 7 yrs ago, and he did great job then so I called him when I decided to have larger gutters installed and replace some rotted fascia. Initially I wanted to have siding replaced as well, but Steve talked me out of it, insisting it would not be a good investment. Instead he recommended having it painted, which I did using my painter for 1/10th the cost of new siding. I appreciated Steve honesty and judgement, a rarity in an age of fly-by-night contractors. Steve accommodated my schedule and his crew did all that I asked. I've found Toth Roofing to be a good value, if not always the lowest bidder. We are highly satisfied with work performed and would recommend Toth Roofing without hesitation."

"Very well. We called in February to ask for an estimate. The estimate was dropped off and the price was great. They said they would add us to the schedule and we would probably be done in June. At the end of May they called to say they would be in the next week. They came when scheduled. When they ran into extra work and had replace a lot of the plywood under the roof, they explained that there wasn't enough air flow and the moisture was staying in the crawl space and the wood had rotted. They replaced it which took an extra day to do and they did a careful professional job to see that the same issue would not happen again. The additional cost was very reasonable. I would use them again and would highly recommend them."

"The take away: Impressive! I'd hire him again without any hesitation and will recommend him to anyone who needs plaster work done. I had several areas in my house that needed plaster repaired from a roof leak and from a plumbing drain stack replacement. Other companies wouldn't take on the job or wanted $6K to $8K and a week to do it. Robert came in, took a quick look and some pictures and quoted me at $1,700 and could do it all in one day! Sounded too good to be true, but with all the good reviews he has, I hired him. He wasn't booked up, so I hired him on Monday and he scheduled the work Thursday and then finished everything in a half day. I think everything is done extremely well! The new plaster blends right into the old plaster. And that's the thing - it's plaster. He's able to do it in one day because he puts up sheet rock and plasters over it rather than putting up drywall and putting layers and layers of joint compound on the seams, which requires time to dry, then sanding, repeat. With plaster, you put it on once, smooth it out, let it dry and it's done, and frankly looks better that way. Anyway, I have absolutely nothing but good things to say about the experience and highly recommend Robert!"

"Overall it went well. Ian James was great throughout the entire process!! He was very good at explaining the process and answering all questions. He showed us all materials being used, explained quality & choices and was NEVER pushy. He often had to explain things in different ways so that I was following along, he always did so without any issues. He treated me like he would his mom. He was very knowledgeable on the product & the business. I like that the business is locally owned & by a veteran no less. Ian, who was my initial contact throughout the process was great as were others whom I came into contact with employed by the company, including the man dropping off supplies and Dumpster. James who helped deal with my insurance company was awesome as well. My only issues were with the non-English speaking installation staff-subcontractors. My other issues dealt with no one in "charge" on sight to deal with any issues/problems questions that arose during installation. The workers were not impolite, just didn't speak english & didn't want to be bothered. They worked fast, did excellent work and used great materials. My roof looks great!! However, my big complaint is that there is no one on sight to manage the crew. This is an issue with most companies who use subcontractors, whether they speak English or not. But with them all either not speaking any English or very broken English, it was very hard to communicate issues when they arose. Ian took my calls and listened to my issues, but he isn't the one who is supposed to be on site & often couldn't get a hold of anyone who was supposed to be on site. If anyone came on site, they didn't introduce themselves or aknowledge who they were. An employee of the company should be on site to deal with any issues that arise and communicate between subcontractors & client, at a minimum of beginning, middle and especially end of project being finished. And I as homeowner should know how to contact them. Ian was always great and tried to answer any questions I had, but honestly that job should have fallen on site employee. Another issue was cleaning up during and after roof was being installed. It was a windy day, but there were 9-10 men on the roof, someone could have gotten down to clear up debris at intervals. Nails left in driveway & debris all over our lawn after they left. We have small puppy so our yard was dangerous for days. I just found debris in yard today, several months after the fact. My husband & I had to do a lot of the clean up due to wanting puppy to be safe. So to conclude.. Ian was great, Roof installed was beautiful and quality workmanship/products. The installation staff was subpar as far as communication, cleanliness and accountablity. I got a great roof installed with quality products. I am overall happy with our roof! Ian took down all my complaints and said he would express those complaints to his boss."

FAQs for heating cable for roof installation projects in Allison Park, PA

A typical heat cable uses 5 watts per foot, regardless of the outside temperature. So, if your cable is 100 feet long, it uses 500 watts per hour. Expect to pay an additional $40 to $200 or more per month on your electricity bill. Be sure to turn manual cables off in the summer when you don't need them.

To install heat tape on your roof, place it along the lower edge in a precise zig-zag pattern to maximize coverage and heat distribution. Professional installers secure the tape with specialized clips that attach firmly to your shingles. This method ensures even heat distribution to effectively melt ice and snow while maintaining your roof's integrity during severe winter conditions.

Choosing between heated gutters and roof heating cables usually comes down to budget, appearance, and performance. Heated gutters cost less to install and blend seamlessly with your home’s exterior, making them a discreet, lower-cost option for preventing ice dams. Roof heating cables deliver more customizable and powerful heat along roof edges to handle heavy snow and ice, but they require more material and labor, increasing your upfront investment. Evaluate your roof design, winter weather demands, and energy budget to select the system that works best for your property.

Roof heating cables prevent ice dams by melting snow and stopping ice buildup at the roof edge. Ice damming occurs when melting snow refreezes on a cold roof—often right above the gutter line—and blocks water from draining, which can force moisture under shingles into your home. Heating cables maintain a warm channel that clears ice dams as soon as they form and protects your roof from water damage and structural issues.

Roof heating cables last between two and ten years before replacement is needed, wearing out faster than your roof itself. Their lifespan depends on climate severity, cable type, and exposure to physical damage. Consistent inspections and preventative maintenance—such as clearing debris, tightening clips, and checking electrical connections—can extend their service life and ensure reliable snow and ice protection each winter.

To safely remove snow from your roof, start with a specially designed roof rake, standing firmly on the ground and pulling snow downhill rather than climbing onto the roof. You can also apply calcium chloride ice melt to break up stubborn ice or gently use a secured rope from a safe vantage point.

Keep in mind that large snow slabs can weigh hundreds of pounds and pose a serious fall risk. If conditions are hazardous or you lack the right equipment, hire a professional to protect your safety and your roof’s integrity.
