"Daddario Roofing was the third roofing company I had give me an estimate to replace the entire composite roof of 25 years.  Even though I heard some tho'ts from others that the roof had some life left in it, Daddario was the only one who said I didn't need full replacement as yet and that they could repair the damaged shingles (from heat) over the garage and then vent the garage for better air flow.  I was delighted to not have to do full replacement and spend much more money.  The original roof had  40 year composite shingles and only the garage roof had really suffered due to extreme heat in the garage itself.  I had no venting in the garage whatsoever.  <br /> Working with Steve, Edgar and their staff in the office was a pleasure.  They always got back to me in a timely manner and were pleasant to work with.  The estimate, work authorization, and payment were all done online which was new to me, but worked out well.  The roofer, Juan, was professional, punctual, and tidy.  Everything was cleaned up well when he completed the job.  I was very pleased. <br />"

"Alex and his crew were able to schedule our roof replacement around all the rain storms and got it done on time. Everyone was very polite and easy to communicate with. Cleaned up every day so there wasn't a big mess. Worked without any loud music or shouting which is good for me since I work from home. I think the price was fair. They also coordinated with our solar installer to make sure everything got done right."

"Pete sets the standard for contractors.  He came to the house and went over his qualifications and references, explained all of his terms, which were excellent, went over various payment plans, gave me a sheet showing all of his employees along with their photos and years of experience.  One of my favorite things about Pete is that he pays for his employees to take English classes!  It's a win-win situation: They become more skilled and he gets highly qualified employees, and with a boss like that they stay with the company, so many of them have 10  + years of experience with him.  He is respectful of all people, including women.  He let me be the boss completely, which any single women reading this know is RARE!  He was never patronizing and never over familiar, but <br /> professional. respectful and comfortable to work with.  <br />       I appreciated that he warned me ahead that with a house the age of my house (100 years) it was likely that they would find a second roof beneath the top one.  He offered me two options in case they did find a second roof: They could stop work and contact me before approving additional work and costs or we could agree on the price of the additional work ahead of time and they would still call or email me but continue to work.   <br />      The quality of work is guaranteed and of the very best quality and they communicate with you throughout the entire process and stay in touch with you even after the job is finished.  Pete has a Happy Homeowner's Gazette that he sends out each month, but gives you the option of taking yourself off the mailing list if you wish.  I stay on because Pete offers you useful tips on taking care of your home each month.  <br />      The workers completely clean the area surrounding the work site daily, going around with a magnet so that no stray nails etc. are left behind and by the end of the day you cannot see any sign, other than the work on the roof, that the team has even been there.  The neighbors said that the workers were so quiet that they never noticed them.  This is one amazing company and we are fortunate to have Pete Scudder on the Peninsula.  I only wish I had more work for him to do!  He is that good! <br />"

"Peterson Dean replaced the roof on my house. The estimator was professional and friendly. I was not present during the work. When I went up on the roof later, I was impressed. It looked beautiful, and my skylights were well protected from water runoff, which is what I requested. I'd recommend them, and I'd use them again. <br />"

"Overall, I was pleased with the service provided and the quality of work. After the re-roofing was completed, we did have a leak near one of our skylights, which we didn't have before the re-roofing. However, Steve was quick to respond to this problem. He explained what caused the problem and implemented a fix. This problem and another minor problem prevented me from giving an and quot;excellentand quot; rating. <br /> Steve was very good at answering our questions prior to winning the contract with us. He was patient and professional. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"Pros: R.E. Roofing was helpful with providing samples and explaining the various roofing options. Once they were onsite to work, roofing tasks proceeded quickly. They even coordinated well with our solar panel installer, as we were also having a new photovoltaic system installed. <br /> <br /> Cons: Once the main portions of roofing were done in November 2009, they became practically unresponsive to complete the remaining tasks, however minor. For example, it took them until March 2010 to respond to the following: <br /> <br /> 1. The flashing for the electrical utility pole had to be adjusted to adhere to code. Actually, they failed to accomplish this; the general contractor ending up taking care of this as it was holding up final inspection. <br /> <br /> 2. Painting the metal roof vents, which is required by code. Waiting for them to do this also held up final inspection, so again the general contractor did this task. <br /> <br /> It's rather unprofessional to leave off finishing minor tasks as these, especially since it specifically held off final inspection of the roof."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Alviso, CA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
