"Miguel, the owner, was exceptionally easy to work with. He is very responsive to questions before going with his company. Requested references from multiple clients with very positive comments. Once I decided to have his company install the sidewalk, he followed my request to change the look by adding a curve to the walkway. He did not ask for money down, but payment in full after the job was done and approved. I would highly recommend him. He was "

"Nick is very high energy and very professional, he was a little late in starting our job but once he started he did not stop until he was finished the job. We agreed initially on one price but at the last minute I changed the scope of the work to more than double the original estimate and work which needed to be done. Nick now had to remove a large area of the existing driveway and correct the grade to make our driveway more level. My wife and I are thrilled at the quality of the job and feel the additional cost were well worth the extra money. We have had a number of neighbors remark at the quality of work Nick preformed. I would highly recommend Sheilds concrete to anyone. Remember you get what you pay for. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"Decorative Concrete of Virginia did a fantastic job. They started with a dirty, stained 26 year old basement floor and turned it into a beautiful place for a workshop. They guys were extremely professional and friendly. I really cannot say enough what a great job they did. It brightened the basement and made the floor very comfortable to walk on, even barefoot. These guys definitely get a 5 star rating all the way around."

"William arrived as promised, completed the concrete pad on schedule, returned as promised and completed the block structure. Once the concrete porch was poured he restored the foundation stone facing and most important he matched the stone and the mortar perfectly. Very reasonable prices for excellent quality work. Very easy to work with and a man with a wide range of restoration capabilities. He is excellent with brick, stone and slate."

"Expert House Movers brought a crew of 6-8 & came in late August 2013 to start the process of raising & moving the house.  My husband had done all the prep work of disconnecting the utilities & removing the furnace, etc. They dug access ramps to the old foundation/basement with bobcats.  They poked good sized holes around the foundation so they could put in steel beams and jack up the house.  Our foundation was from 1917 & built from old creek gravel cement, so it was pretty tough.  It took three & half days to jack the house & move it over the driveway.  It seemed really fast to me.  The only thing to fall in the house was a picture off the piano.  We still had access to the house through a tall ladder to get clothes, etc. that we needed. <br /> We took over the process of arranging excavation, concrete pouring, and carpenters with more local contractors.  Expert does have concrete people & others they use in the St Louis area that know exactly the requirements needed for the new foundation. <br /> After the basement was poured & cured (curing takes about 3-4 weeks), Expert returned in October 2013 to move & set the house.  They had been in contact with the concrete man for specifications, but there were no slots for the beams when setting the house down.  A concrete worker had to come & cut those slots.  We had a carpenter on hand to finish the sill installment & make sure the sills for the permanent beams was correct & set the support posts in the basement.  We also had a friend's tractor help Expert's bobcat pull the house back over the foundation.  While all this was going on, Expert was jacking and moving supports & placing slider beams & raising & lowering the house.  The process was complete in about 2 1/2 days with care & precision.  Some of the cracks in our house even disappeared.  Great job guys. <br /> Our carpenters returned to build a staircase & some other requirements.  We are working on re-connecting utilities & returning the furnace, water heater, etc. to the new basement.  We plan to move back into the house in the first week or so in November 2013.  It's been a long process, but well worth it.  Made possible by Expert House Movers! <br />"

FAQs for concrete flatwork repair & resurface projects in Amherst, VA

When evaluating whether patching can address your concrete blemishes, it’s important to assess the extent of the damage. Minor issues such as small cracks or chipped areas may be effectively repaired with patching techniques that restore the surface’s appearance. However, if you notice widespread deterioration, significant cracks, or structural weakening, resurfacing is recommended as a more durable, long‑term solution. A thorough evaluation by a concrete specialist can help determine the best course of action for restoring your concrete to its optimal condition.

The optimal time to resurface your concrete driveway is late spring. This period benefits from warm temperatures and softened ground conditions following winter’s freeze‑thaw cycles, ensuring that the new overlay bonds securely and matures to a durable finish. Resurfacing at this time also enhances your property's safety and curb appeal. Engage a concrete professional to schedule your project during this ideal season.
