"The handyman was professional. He right away got on the case and figured out what the problem might be. He gave me an option if I wanted to him to do it or check with the company that originally installed it if there is any warranty. He explained to me in detail what the issues were and what is needed to resolve it. Although he put some time to diagnose the problem, he didnt charge me for it. I was not only explained what the problem but I truly appreciate the options he gave me and the overall honesty in the entire experience was very much appreciated. Will recommend this company to anyone for sure. "

"The basement stairs landing got rebuilt! Then the ‘little’ things as mounting blinds, and replacing a couple of light fixtures got done too!"

"Guy was a pleasure to work with in our kitchen and bathroom restoration. The work needing to be done was complicated and extensive but Guy never complained and did an excellent job. He was consistently punctual and reliable throughout the project. He never left a mess and was always very kind and considerate. On top of all of that his pricing was very fair. We would highly recommend Guy Green."

"Knowledgeable and experienced. Dan did a great job, was efficient and friendly. He was able to correct the damages caused by 2 other "professionals" sent by Angi. Pricing was rather high compared to other quotes to install exterior doors, but you get what you pay for in the end. I learned my lesson the hard way, no worries with Mr Handyman"

FAQs for appliance (microwave oven) installation and replacement projects in Ann Arbor, MI

A pro can finish the job in one to three hours. Countertop models are the quickest, but built-in, drawer, and over-the-range units take longer because the installer may need to run a new outlet, modify cabinets, or add venting. Any add-ons can push the timeline closer to the three-hour mark. Hiring a licensed installer ensures the wiring is safe and the appliance operates at peak performance.

Because an over-the-range microwave doubles as a range hood, it needs proper venting. You can opt for a recirculating model that filters and recirculates air back into the kitchen, or a ducted unit that exhausts outdoors. Are you unsure which route suits your cooking style? Ask your installer for guidance before making a purchase.

Only microwaves labeled “over-the-range” have the built-in venting and lighting that’s necessary for safe, code-compliant use above a stove. Countertop models don’t have those safeguards. Before you swipe your card, have a licensed microwave installer confirm you’re choosing the right unit for the space and ensure compliance with local codes.

It’s best not to install a countertop microwave in your cabinets. Countertop models aren’t designed for use in an enclosed cabinet, and blocking those vents can trap moisture or even create a fire hazard. A built-in or drawer microwave is designed for tight spaces. Run your plans by an installer to make sure you’re buying the right style for the spot.

You don’t need an electrician if the outlet already meets the microwave’s power needs and sits in the right spot. In that case, you’re good to go ahead with the installation. If the outlet is undersized, outdated, or too far away, hire a licensed electrician to install a new one and ensure everything is code-compliant.

With routine care, most microwaves last between five and 10 years. To help them reach their maximum lifespan, wipe up spills immediately, wash the grease filter periodically, avoid using metal dishware, and close the door gently. Those simple habits reduce malfunctions and keep the appliance running smoothly for the long haul.
