"Kevin from Reliant Electric responded within a couple hours of the online Angi request. He called me directly. Provided estimated cost and timing to troubleshoot my electrical issue over phone and the date and time when he could arrive. Kevin sent text the day before confirming time of arrival next day and sent text on day of when he was 20 minutes away. Kevin is very personable. I had a number of outlets that had no power, they all went out at same time, but there was no circuit breaker thrown. Kevin told me what he was going to investigate and methodically reviewed the wiring in the multiple outlets that were not functioning until he found the issue. He double checked that all were on same circuit and ended up replacing an outlet. Kevin verified that all outlets were then functional and put back in place. All told Kevin spent about 1 hour and 15 minutes at my house. Very professional. Highly recommend."

Customers say: Quick response

"Ed and his son were quick to respond to my phone call and give me a bid after checking out my electrical needs. They replaced 4 can lights, took down my old flourescent light fixture and installed 2 can lights and replaced the dimmer switch in my kitchen. They were quick, cleaned up well and the charge was fair! Definitely recommend! "

"They installed the wrong gauge wire for the load. The receptacle burned out two years later. Matt promptly came out, but said he couldn't find a cause. Was about to hire him again. Oddly, the friend who recommended them, they did that job correctly. My friend looked at mine and said right away, "These wires look thinner." Then I got a second opinion from another electrician, who demonstrated several defects in installation, including the work clearly not to code. This cost hundreds to repair, and was a near-miss of a disaster. I sent a detailed email with documentation and made a modest demand for compensation, a chance to preserve their reputation and make it right. No word after a couple weeks."

FAQs for electrical for home addition or remodel installation projects in Ann Arbor, MI

There are several telltale signs that your home is due for an electrical upgrade. You may need to rewire your house if your lights are constantly flickering or your circuit breaker keeps tripping. If you feel mild electric shocks when you touch light switches, hear buzzing sounds, or notice burning smells, you may need to rewire your house, too. Discolored or burnt-looking switches and faceplates are another crucial warning sign.

Properly installed copper wiring in a residential property can last as long as 50 to 100 years in some cases, but many homes over 30 years old are due for an upgrade. That’s the timeline that many experts recommend, even if it is only a partial update to accommodate technological advancements, increased power demands, and changing safety requirements.

At $3 to $5 per square foot, the cost to wire a 2,000-square-foot house ranges from $6,000 to $10,000, on average. This can depend on many factors, like the age and complexity of the house and how easy it is for contractors to access the areas they need to get the job done. Opening and repairing walls can further add to your total cost.
