"We bought a home that unfortunately had 2 units over 20 years old. We received a letter and coupon from Service Star for annual maintenance (addressed to previous owner). We had not been having any issues with our AC but thought maintenance was pretty important, especially with summer coming. Louis came out on Tuesday, April 28th and did a thorough inspection of our units. He was very friendly, engaging and we felt confident and convinced that he was quite knowledgeable in this field. Turns out there were big issues with our unit including the huge mold issue, coil issue, fire hazard issues, etc. (yikes!). Our units were working pretty hard and getting pretty hot and there was zero efficiency going on. Basically, the life of our units had come to an end. We opted to replace the units and he gave us a pretty good deal which included upgrading the digital thermostats (pretty awesome!). My husband is a vet so there was a nice discount I appreciated how he explained everything to us and outlined what replacing the units entailed. We were pleasantly surprised that they had the units available and could start the work that day! There was a two-person crew that came in around 3:30 and was completely done and cleaned up by 10:30 pm. No small project. They were professional, competent and worked diligently to completion. We were quite impressed and what a big difference in the quality of air! We can say enough good things about Service Star, we definitely recommend them for all HVAC needs. GREAT job Service Star. "Worker showed up on time and was a courteous, respectful young man. It's refreshing these days. He went straight to work and didn't mind me watching. The previous owners must not have EVER cleaned the vents or it had been a very long time. Not sure how the place didn't burn down. He suctioned the door seals, the lint tray and inside the dryer drum in crevices I didn't realize existed. He moved on to the rear of the dryer with the same small suction for small spaces. He said the dryer hose was dry-rotted and offered to replace it for an additional $15 to which I accepted because I was short on time to get my own. He proceeded to 'snake' the long line of the venting leading to the roof. Tons of lint came out. He then climbed to the roof (2 story, BTW) and and worked backwards with the 'snake' to get a thorough cleaning of the entire venting system. He came down with pics of the vent showing there was literally a pink finger sized hole for air to escape and said on a scale of 0-10, with 10 being the worst he's seen, my line was a NINE!! The pieces that fell, not floated to the ground was like hardened cotton candy left out overnight unsealed! It was thick clumps!!! Still unbelievable the house didn't burn to the ground!! While up there, he also noticed a six to eight foot section of shingles missing at a joint with wood beams exposed. It turned out to be a large problem and we are in the middle of getting an inspector over for structural damage to the roofing beams and sturdiness!! Thank you so much for that!!"
