"Great work! This company is very professional and honest. Ezra was the person that came over and did the inspection. We originally wanted to know if our house have any issue or problem with energy. His report was given after he did a 3 hours inspection thru the entire house and his workers covered any opening that can cause any problem. After the workers completed the <br /> covering, He then ran a test with a special machine and took some screenshots of before and after. All the images were included in the report that cover everything. At the end of the report we were able to determine the problem in which it was not the big and Ezra gave us the option to fix it as well under a separate estimate. <br />"

"Despite no rain in California for nearly four years, we ended up slightly delayed due to rain.  However, Phil kept us updated on our planned, then rescheduled start dates.  The painting happened as described, they kept a neat worksite and tidied up each day.  The house looks awesome, I can only hope it leads to some quick offers on the sale.  I would highly recommend Brunelle's. <br />"

"They prepped midweek one week, and returned to paint the following Tuesday, so there was plenty of time to dry from the washing. We had considerable wind at that time so they put off painting a day for safety reasons. All windows and the sliding door were covered while painting as you would expect. I used 3 colors, one for the house, one for trim and one for doors. I received leftover cans for all 3 at the end, for future use. At the end, they did a walk-through with me to catch anything I was not satisfied with. I pointed out a couple of little things and they fixed them right away. This company was the low bid and also gives two coats and a two-year guarantee. They patched and primed problems areas, did one coat brush and roll and the second spray. I was around enough to know that is true, although some of the time I took my dogs elsewhere. They use Kelly-Moore paint, new to our area, but which I know from having a house painted on Puget Sound. That paint has a good number of stock colors so we were able to find good colors without mixing, which I am told is helpful for color longevity. That company takes back unused paint at the end of the year for recycling which is good. They used protective gear when spraying, including a face mask, and had quite an array of specialty ladders. I live near the ocean so I think the two coats is important along with the good prep."

"I had an excellent experience with Ocean Seven Builders that I wanted to share with the google community. I had a kitchen and 2 bathrooms remodeling project, and I had no idea where to start. I interviewed a few companies but Eli, from Ocean Seven Builders, was super informative, honest and straight-forward. Throughout the entire project, communication was great and they always kept us informed and updated on the progress. Whenever we were uncertain about a decision, they patiently walked us through the options and made sure we were happy with the results. Also, Eli and her team were extremely conscientious about issues that came up and dealt with every issue calmly and efficiently. To sum it all up, From booking an appointment through having the job completed, Ocean Seven Builders was fabulous to work with. They were responsive, courteous, and displayed a high skill level throughout the entire project. The finished result looks very high end and we managed to stay on budget. Thank you Eli and Ocean Seven Builders for my lovely new home."

FAQs for exterior home or structure paint or stain projects in Arcata, CA

Painting vinyl siding is a budget-friendly way to revive curb appeal without paying for new panels. As long as the boards aren’t warped, cracked, or leaking, a coat of high-quality acrylic paint can buy you another five to 10 years before replacement.

Stick to lighter shades so the siding doesn’t soak up excess heat, and prep the surface well for the paint to bond. If you’re seeing rot or moisture damage, skip the paint and plan for new siding instead.

High-quality acrylic paint is recommended for vinyl siding. Acrylic paint adheres firmly to vinyl surfaces and resists peeling and fading, providing a sleek and long-lasting finish. Ensure the siding is thoroughly cleaned and prepared for optimal results. Your exterior painting pro has the expertise to properly prepare your siding’s surface to ensure proper adhesion.

Priming is not required if the vinyl siding remains in good condition and is properly cleaned. However, if the original color is severely faded or the panels have become porous, priming becomes essential. Priming provides a smooth, even base that improves paint adhesion and enhances durability, ensuring the acrylic finish adheres properly and lasts longer.

A paint sprayer is the quickest, most consistent way to coat vinyl siding. The fine mist reaches grooves a roller can miss and lays down an even layer in a fraction of the time. You’ll still need a brush for tight corners, but a sprayer slashes labor hours and reduces lap marks.

If you’re renting equipment, ask the supplier for a tip size made for exterior acrylics so the paint atomizes correctly and sticks to the siding.

Painted vinyl siding lasts between five and 10 years. The durability depends on the quality of the surface preparation and the local climate conditions. When the siding is thoroughly cleaned and prepped, and high-quality acrylic paint is used, the finish endures longer. In hotter regions, the lifespan may be closer to five years, while cooler climates help extend it.
