"We got an immediate response when we reached out to them. They came out and gave us a rough estimate on the job and a timetable when they were available. Their communication was excellent throughout, and they were very transparent with when they would start and how long the job would take. When they came out to build the retaining wall, they were very respectful of our property and our neighbors. They warned us that their equipment might tear up the yard, but in the end I didn’t see any damage at all. They kept us updated on how the job was going through the process and where plans needed to be adjusted so we could decide what we wanted and how we would like to proceed. The quality of the retaining wall they built for us is amazing. I am so pleased with the result, it looks fantastic and has stood up to several hard storms so far without any soil loss. Overall they were courteous, communicative, and kind throughout, and I couldn’t be happier with the retaining wall they built for us. "<p> </p> <p>Due to shade, dog damage, etc., our back yard had turned into a mud yard.  The grass had thinned or died, and the soil had then eroded away.  Penton?s team added a few of inches of soil and then covered the soil with sod.</p> <p> </p> <p>I first want to praise the Penton team for showing up when they said they would and doing what they agreed to do.  My back yard was transformed from mud yard to thick lawn.  My only complaint is with the damage done to my front yard while moving soil and sod to the back yard.  I understand that some damage is inevitable, but the other landscapers that I have seen put boards down to limit the heavy equipment damage.  Penton?s team instead put down narrow sod patches to cover the tracks left by their track steer.  This left a very uneven patch of lawn, with high tracks where the sod was set bordered by low ?barrow pit? areas.  Friends and neighbors have literally tripped due to the very uneven strips.  I don?t know how the damage can be repaired without stripping, leveling, and then re-sodding the area.</p> <p> </p> <p>I?m very thankful for the work that John?s team did for us, but I get a little angry every time I mow the damaged area.</p> <p> </p> <br />"

"It has been a horrible experience.  Ed lies.  He hired a sub-contracter to do the concrete work and then told us that we hired him and would have to pay him or he would put a lean against our property.  When we contacted the subcontractor he shared he had already been paid.  The subcontractor chose to cut our sprinkler system line rather than run it under our patio.  Ed agreed to pay for the sprinkler system damage and told us to send him the bill. Now Ed is blaming us for this and wants us to pay for the damage done to our sprinkler system.  When walking our property - we discussed the patio as well as an additional cement pad for our generator box.  Ed said he would do both.  He even offered to do stamped concrete for both and we shared we only needed it for the patio area.  Since the project was done, Ed now says that the generator box cement pad was not in the original bid.  Never before had we been informed that his bid was not all inclusive of the work we agreed to during our walk through. <br /> <br /> We have worked with many construction, plumbing, and landscape businesses over the past 20 years.  We have never had an issue like this where the owner bids a job and later denies that it included the work agreed to.  We've worked with a different local landscape company for the past 15 years and have been very happy with them, but switched because of the price Ed offered in his bid.  We should have never switched.  Mr DeWilpelare's dishonesty is incredible.  As a fraud investigator professionally for almost 20 years, I'm used to people being put in jail or being fined for falsifying records and lying.  In these cases you have the law to protect you. What is the protection a consumer has from a fraudulent and dishonest business owner?"
