"Pat came to my home - quite a way out from his location, for an estimate on a basement project. I was satisfied with the information and attention to detail he had to offer on what would need to be addressed for the project. I asked that if it was possible to please send me an estimate by Monday due to a timeline I had to make a decision by. He stated the he would try for Sunday. It's Thursday and I never did receive an estimate. I contacted the number listed on his business card, texted, emailed, and sent a message through the home advisor site, even contacted the person managing my search through Home Advisor, and no luck?! I'm not sure what happened, but I am disappointed that he never got back to me. I hired another contractor."

"Although it took longer than I expected, Tim Hoffman did an excellent job. He painstakingly vacuumed and thoroughly cleaned all the carpets in my home. Very easy to work with and plan to use again to clean my tile floors."

"We thought the windows were expensive but we are very happy with them. It has been really great and the new windows are a lot better than the ones we have in the rest of the house. They were great when they came out and were her for two or three days. They were very nice and we were happy with the whole experience. The price was more than we had hoped to pay for windows, but now that we have had them in for a while we are very happy with them."

"Expert House Movers brought a crew of 6-8 & came in late August 2013 to start the process of raising & moving the house.  My husband had done all the prep work of disconnecting the utilities & removing the furnace, etc. They dug access ramps to the old foundation/basement with bobcats.  They poked good sized holes around the foundation so they could put in steel beams and jack up the house.  Our foundation was from 1917 & built from old creek gravel cement, so it was pretty tough.  It took three & half days to jack the house & move it over the driveway.  It seemed really fast to me.  The only thing to fall in the house was a picture off the piano.  We still had access to the house through a tall ladder to get clothes, etc. that we needed. <br /> We took over the process of arranging excavation, concrete pouring, and carpenters with more local contractors.  Expert does have concrete people & others they use in the St Louis area that know exactly the requirements needed for the new foundation. <br /> After the basement was poured & cured (curing takes about 3-4 weeks), Expert returned in October 2013 to move & set the house.  They had been in contact with the concrete man for specifications, but there were no slots for the beams when setting the house down.  A concrete worker had to come & cut those slots.  We had a carpenter on hand to finish the sill installment & make sure the sills for the permanent beams was correct & set the support posts in the basement.  We also had a friend's tractor help Expert's bobcat pull the house back over the foundation.  While all this was going on, Expert was jacking and moving supports & placing slider beams & raising & lowering the house.  The process was complete in about 2 1/2 days with care & precision.  Some of the cracks in our house even disappeared.  Great job guys. <br /> Our carpenters returned to build a staircase & some other requirements.  We are working on re-connecting utilities & returning the furnace, water heater, etc. to the new basement.  We plan to move back into the house in the first week or so in November 2013.  It's been a long process, but well worth it.  Made possible by Expert House Movers! <br />"

"Bill Hayes showed up on time, preformed the work doing a super professional job and stuck to the quote even though the job took a little longer. He left the site clean and in a better condition than when he arrived. Bill Hayes was very experienced and efficiently and expertly operated his equipment in our tight back yard. We recommend him and would hire him back again. He is very talented and good at what he does, we were very lucky we hired him because he knew how to stabilize the bank. We had been looking for someone that knew how to do this but we're not convinced that just a retaining wall would work. Now our house is protected, our bank is stabilized with large boulders, our bank can now become be a beautiful rock garden this summer with plantings in between the puzzled together rocks. Thank you Bill!"

"I highly recommend this company for residential additions or energy improvements. We got estimates from several builders looking for energy efficiency, durable and green materials, local materials and suppliers, and cost as priorities. We researched everything we could find in these areas and construction practices and Mike had advanced knowledge in all the options when he came with a proposal. He clearly stays on top of the field in construction methods and his thinking is in line with ours. A factor also in our selecting him was that his is a smaller company specializing in additions and we thought our work would get better priority than with a large company. Mike for our project was the daily point of contact, did the detailed design, and led the on-site work. We did a Time and Materials contract rather than fixed price. This worked out reasonably well but we didn't always consider total cost impact when we added new work as we often did. We developed plans ourselves beginning with a few preliminary plans from an architect, then worked with Mike over the first month or two in modifications. In retrospect we should have worked longer with an architect to develop the plans further so that we had fewer loose ends at start of construction. This was a great company to work with - energetic, motivated, knowledgeable, cost sensitive, demanding of quality in their own work, selects good subcontractors. The final product addition is well-engineered and finish work is excellent. From an energy perspective, our ambitious goal was to have no higher energy use after the addition than before. We just about achieved that since the addition solved some problems with the existing house and is itself very tight. The new basement (of Integrated Concrete Forms walls) interior temperature got no lower than 47 degrees on the coldest days this winter, without heating. The main addition easily reached 70+ degrees after a couple of hours of heating with one of the smaller wood stoves on the market. I highly recommend this company."

"During a heavy rain storm water started leaking into our house at a rate that could not be ignored or brushed. <br /> <br /> The weather calmed down and the next morning I called around. Laurie's was the first place to respond that could look at it 'today' .. I wanted it fixed that day because we had more rain forecasted. <br /> <br /> She (Laurie) managed to shuffle some of her folks around and get a roof specialist out to my house that morning. It was great how quick her and her team got on the case. I made it clear that no matter what else was going on with the roof, I needed a 'quick fix' so that the rain expected for that evening would not cause more trouble inside the house. <br /> <br /> After getting up on the roof the specialist quickly found some holes in the shingles. He left, went to the store, got some roofing tar/caulk stuff and came back promptly and filled the holes as a 'quick fix' ... which was what I wanted. <br /> <br /> I then asked if I could get a quote for replacing the roof since he was there. So he measured things and Laurie quickly got me quotes for different types of roofing as well as seamless gutters. <br /> <br /> I have not decided what to do yet but I will get a few more quotes just to be smart about it. The quotes are a little high looking, but the service and responsiveness so far lets me know that the company is professional and solid... two big marks in their favor. <br /> <br /> The quick roof fix worked and has only leaked slightly during heavy rain since. I was happy with the service, if not with the roof."

FAQs for concrete flatwork repair & resurface projects in Arlington, VT

When evaluating whether patching can address your concrete blemishes, it’s important to assess the extent of the damage. Minor issues such as small cracks or chipped areas may be effectively repaired with patching techniques that restore the surface’s appearance. However, if you notice widespread deterioration, significant cracks, or structural weakening, resurfacing is recommended as a more durable, long‑term solution. A thorough evaluation by a concrete specialist can help determine the best course of action for restoring your concrete to its optimal condition.

The optimal time to resurface your concrete driveway is late spring. This period benefits from warm temperatures and softened ground conditions following winter’s freeze‑thaw cycles, ensuring that the new overlay bonds securely and matures to a durable finish. Resurfacing at this time also enhances your property's safety and curb appeal. Engage a concrete professional to schedule your project during this ideal season.
