"Jim is the designer who walked the property, made recommendations and provided the estimates. We asked for the work to be quoted as two estimates. We had to do the back yard re-grading and seeding, but theoretically could have cleaned up the landscaping ourselves. In the end we hired them for both projects because the estimates were so reasonable. Jim was punctual, professional, very knowledgeable. His quote on the re-grading/seeding was similar in price but very different in amount of fill dirt that had been quoted by Scot's last Fall. I called him about it and his explanation made a lot of sense: he thought we could use a lot of the existing soil and softly slope the lawn away from the house. The yahoo we hired last year had butchered it so badly, and had created a hard edge. <br />It took longer to actually get on their calendar than we had hoped, but we foolishly tried to wait to get quotes from other landscapers. We were burned so badly last summer that we were trying to be overly cautious. <br />When we did not get call backs from 3 other companies (even Scot's who had originally provided an estimate last Fall) we booked the work with Thomson's. Believe it or not, Scot's failed to respond to three separate calls AND a visit to their store by my husband. <br />The projects were completed over two days and Jim was here at the beginning of each day to make sure the crew knew what was to be done. We had 4 different crew members <br />There were a few things about completed work I was not quite comfortable with. Jim returned my call promptly and came out to do a walk through with me two days later. It was nothing major, but he agreed and said he would put in a work order for a return visit with no additional charge to us. <br />We highly recommend Thomson's and will use them again. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"He is terrific. He was professional, honest, and pleasant. His price is not that cheap, but it was worth it. He and his team built my patio in four days. I am really happy with it! He even put a hole in the bricks for a downspout. It is beautiful. I have recommended him."

"I first met the Jeff Ours, owner of JLS Contracting in the summer of 2014. He and his crew installed a new metal roof on my house and garage that year. Which I am still very happy with. He and his crew were always on time, worked diligently from the time they got here to the time they left for the day, took a minimal amount of time for their lunch, always policed up the area at the end of each day, were always professional, polite, and considerate. As a matter of fact, I was so impressed with them and the quality of their workmanship, that I invited them back again this year for a series of projects. Again, Jeff and his crew proved to be one of the best in the business, and all of the above still held true. Jeff is a very professional, down to earth person. He listens attentively to my concerns and future project goals, tactfully provides his professional opinion and offered some great advice and suggestions. Any questions I had about anything before, during or even after the project was complete, he has always been very prompt to address them. His rates are competitive, reasonable and the high quality of workmanship is unsurpassed. This latest project included installation of new siding for my house and garage, installation of 11 new vinyl replacement windows, replacement of 3 storm doors, one entry door, demo of one concrete porch and one wood deck and stairs, creation of new front porch, porch roof, and railings, installation of new garage overhead and single-entry doors; house gutter redirects and some replacements. removal and replacement of badly deteriorating sidewalks and steps. The cost of this series of projects was worth every penny. The outside of my house has been truly transformed. If you want true quality work done by people you can trust, these are the people to contract with."

"The company did an outstanding job. The crew of three arrived promptly as promised and got to work immediately. I was impressed that all three crew members (including the owner) worked nonstop during the day. Work was performed exactly as I was described and my property was left looking amazing. Further, the cleanup done after work was performed was top-notch, especially given the amount of work that was done. I was very, very pleased with the work that was done and would definitely use this company again. <br />"

"I contacted Mark Bailey on Sept 27th, requesting an estimate to have my dead trees cut down and he came out the same day. After he left, I thought about it for a few minutes then gave his office a call and asked them to go ahead and put me on the list. Mark had told me he would send me the proposal but at that time I didn't understand I had to sign it and send it back. Ok, my oversight. Not a big deal. <br /> I got over there and signed the proposal Oct 5th and was told it would be 2-3 weeks until the work would be done. Mark told me he'd come out, probably the day after to mark the trees that were coming down and that was fine. If he came out, I never saw him and I didn't notice anything marked other than the orange spots the electric company had put on a couple of the tree trunks. He also told me he'd give me a day or two notice before work began. <br /> The work was completed over three days. The first day, I got a call from Mark at 7:56am to tell me the crew would be at my property between 9 and 10am. The crew was great. Jeff, Rob and Mel were experienced and knowledgeable and it showed. They put the majority of the cut wood right in my front yard where I wanted it. They took care of 3 trees the first day. They told me they'd be back the next week to do more. <br /> Due to the remnants of hurricane Sandy they crew wasn't back until the following Friday and took down 2 more trees. I didn't get any notice at all that they were coming that particular day. I asked before they left when they would be back and Mel called the office, then told me they'd be back out on Monday, Nov. 5th, which they were. <br /> All in all they did a great job! Thanks guys. <br />"

FAQs for interlocking pavers for driveways & floors installation projects in Athens, OH

With proper maintenance, permeable pavement can last for over 20 years. Bi-annual vacuuming prevents clogs from debris and sediment, extends the pavement’s lifespan, and helps you avoid costly driveway repairs. Permeable pavement often has a shorter lifespan in areas with heavy traffic or harsh weather conditions.

Pervious and porous usually refer to pouring asphalt or concrete—which is a single massive object—but with enough small holes to allow for even drainage. This is also sometimes called thirsty concrete. Permeable concrete pavers are precast concrete designed to also allow for drainage. Permeable grass pavers allow grass to grow through them and provide drainage.

Pervious, porous, and permeable pavers are similar because they make it easier for rain or snow to drain or absorb into the ground rather than overload the storm or sewer systems.

The most significant benefit of water-permeable pavement is that it helps precipitation absorb better (and slower) into the ground, which avoids overloading sewers and causing overflows and backups. It also helps recharge the groundwater and prevent agricultural runoff from lawns.

If you’ve ever seen water rushing into a storm drain, permeable pavement prevents that. Instead of water running off a steep driveway, a good amount of it “soaks” directly underneath the pavement.

Topmix permeable concrete costs $8 to $16 per square foot, including all installation costs. However, they give out estimates on a project-by-project basis. However, Tarmac, the company that made the product, no longer produces Topmix.

Ecoraster is a brand that offers many different permeable paving options in North America. Prices vary depending on the product and project. They’ll give estimates for each individual project. While not actual pavers, these grids serve a similar function. Ecoraster grids come in various styles and allow for similar drainage compared to permeable pavers or porous paving.

Permeable driveways may cost slightly more than a traditional paving type, but they reduce or eliminate the need to install any other type of drainage system. Drainage systems cost $2,000 to $6,500 to install. They also reduce stormwater runoff, sewer overflows, and help eliminate urban agriculture runoff, which can pollute waterways.
