"Del Rey Paving exhibits predatory sales practices, failure to deliver on promises, inadequate design, errors in construction, failure to abide by warranties, seeking funds out of contract in order to maintain “good faith” relationship, unresponsiveness, and poor service. After a very high-pressure sales pitch (disguised as a design meeting) with all the accoutrements (fancy PowerPoint demonstration, a copy of their impressive surety bond, commitments that they will stand behind us, and a discount that magically expired the same day) and a commitment that the 25-year warrantee covers everything but seismic and trees, Del Rey Paving completed our $72k backyard paver project in September 2023. Over the next few weeks, the pavers began to separate, sag, and crown. Also, the drainage in many areas was toward the house, not away from it. They did come back a couple of times to remove pavers, recompact, and reset. However, when failures continued, they asked us to let the system fail for another year so they would only have to do a major rehabilitation once. When that year elapsed, they were nowhere to be found. Very difficult to get them to come back out. Then, instead of fixing the failed system, they had a soils engineer evaluate. The engineer's soils report described the underlying soils in precisely the way we had described and physically showed them two years prior to the Senior Design Consultant. The report also recommended construction means and methods to properly support various structures, including paving. The report recommendations were vastly different than how Del Rey Paving actually constructed the paving system two years prior. They recently sent an email essentially saying they didn’t want to keep spending money on their failed system. They also claimed the warranties would not cover the repairs. They are attempting to simply walk away, leaving us with an unsafe, embarrassing backyard and a worthless major investment."

"Efrain came several times to the property so we could discuss design aspects. He was so patient with me as well as the changes I made each time before I got a quote and he started work. We had a difficult area to have work done in Venice being in the middle of the block and our back alley too small for a standard construction truck to fit. Efrain investigated and figured out the best way to get the excavated soil out as well as the pavers and road base onto the property. Efrain is a man of great character. Once work began, he and his staff were incredibly respectful of our tenants, the property, and our neighbors. He was an artist in several areas, he leveled each and every paver by hand as well as used his expertise in concrete to direct areas for water to drain from the property during rainfall. When I decided to do change orders, he didn’t take that opportunity to charge me a vast amount of money because he knew I had no choice if I wanted the work done. He and his staff always cleaned up after themselves and made sure no one would be in danger of walking across an unsafe area. "We hired Joe and his team to handle our primary bathroom remodel and are very pleased only a few days into the work. While our bathroom is on the small side, in order to get what we want, it requires complete demolition and all appropriate re-configuration so it is a substantial project. In our initial consultation, Joe provided great space-efficient ideas and helpful suggestions for where to shop for the items we'd need. He has been extremely communicative and responsive which we greatly appreciate, as that can be hard to come by.
