"Everything went remarkably fast. I needed to get my roof repaired, as there was considerable heat and water damage--which was shown through detailed photographs. All the details were carefully explained to me. I was kept up to date via email and texting. The crew arrived promptly, a short time before the supervisor arrived, and immediately began unpacking their materials and tools. They were already underway when the supervisor arrived. They had to pause for a time because of rain, but got right back to work when it cleared. I was sent pictures of the progress during the day via text. I arrived home after dark, and they were busy doing the final cleanup, so I parked in my neighbor's drive. As I walked over, I saw one of the crew carefully restaking one of my crackle ball lightsticks that had been pushed askew. I found that very endearing--such a small detail, yet he made time for it! All of the crew that I saw while walking into the house greeted me with a smile. The roof looks gorgeous! Several days later another crew came and installed my new gutters--the old ones were being held together with duct tape and prayer! I wouldn't have thought of black gutters, but I was shown a virtual image of how they would look, and it was elegant! I am very, very pleased."

"We lost some singles in the recent high winds. They came out the next day and did a thorough inspection and gave our landlord an estimate to repair. One day later our roof was repaired, and the cost was very reasonable. We recommend them to anyone needing service! AAA+"

"As Robert, owner of the company, is a man of his word, I am submitting an addendum to my previous review and appreciate that Robert and I settled this matter. There was some miscommunication via correspondence but the matter is resolved amicably. Thank you Robert. I would edit the initial review but there does not seem to be a function available, thus my follow up"

"Joe "J.G. Spooner" is a scammer!! He was referred to me by my real estate broker to get some work done on the property and potentially as a manager. He did some minor plumbing work on the property and was very responsive, working to get the management agreement and take over as the manager. Made sure to point out things my other managers were not doing and how he would do better. He took over managing the property and collected rent for five months, never once doing a distribution. He had all sorts of reasons why he couldn't send money: - Why he was out of town (with his daughter) - Why he was doing something else and couldn't get to it. - Why his assistant wasn't available (hit by a car...) He even started a distribution with the system so it looked like he was sending money only to stop it causing the system to state the transfer was terminated by the sender. I'm going after him and pressing charges. I'll likely never see my money back. But hopefully it prevents more. "

FAQs for heating cable for roof installation projects in Avon, OH

A typical heat cable uses 5 watts per foot, regardless of the outside temperature. So, if your cable is 100 feet long, it uses 500 watts per hour. Expect to pay an additional $40 to $200 or more per month on your electricity bill. Be sure to turn manual cables off in the summer when you don't need them.

To install heat tape on your roof, place it along the lower edge in a precise zig-zag pattern to maximize coverage and heat distribution. Professional installers secure the tape with specialized clips that attach firmly to your shingles. This method ensures even heat distribution to effectively melt ice and snow while maintaining your roof's integrity during severe winter conditions.

Choosing between heated gutters and roof heating cables usually comes down to budget, appearance, and performance. Heated gutters cost less to install and blend seamlessly with your home’s exterior, making them a discreet, lower-cost option for preventing ice dams. Roof heating cables deliver more customizable and powerful heat along roof edges to handle heavy snow and ice, but they require more material and labor, increasing your upfront investment. Evaluate your roof design, winter weather demands, and energy budget to select the system that works best for your property.

Roof heating cables prevent ice dams by melting snow and stopping ice buildup at the roof edge. Ice damming occurs when melting snow refreezes on a cold roof—often right above the gutter line—and blocks water from draining, which can force moisture under shingles into your home. Heating cables maintain a warm channel that clears ice dams as soon as they form and protects your roof from water damage and structural issues.

Roof heating cables last between two and ten years before replacement is needed, wearing out faster than your roof itself. Their lifespan depends on climate severity, cable type, and exposure to physical damage. Consistent inspections and preventative maintenance—such as clearing debris, tightening clips, and checking electrical connections—can extend their service life and ensure reliable snow and ice protection each winter.

To safely remove snow from your roof, start with a specially designed roof rake, standing firmly on the ground and pulling snow downhill rather than climbing onto the roof. You can also apply calcium chloride ice melt to break up stubborn ice or gently use a secured rope from a safe vantage point.

Keep in mind that large snow slabs can weigh hundreds of pounds and pose a serious fall risk. If conditions are hazardous or you lack the right equipment, hire a professional to protect your safety and your roof’s integrity.
