"Curtis was great to work with. Prompt and professional and kept communication open at all times. He was also very flexible when we had to make changes to the project. Would absolutely hire Freedom Plumbing again."

"I originally contacted Steven to provide an estimate to install a gas line for a new stove. While doing the gas line estimate, we noticed that my water heater was leaking. So I asked him for an estimate to replace that as well. He worked up estimates for both projects. I knew my water heater was old and could go any day, so I asked him to schedule a replacement as soon as he could work it into his schedule. This was on a Tuesday. He arrived Saturday morning with a new water heater and began the project. I had originally ordered a 50 gallon water heater, but we discovered the area where the water heater was to go was not wide enough due to the placement of my incoming water line and a furnace humidifier. Steven called his supplier and was able to switch to a 40 gallon unit. It took only about half an hour for him to return with the smaller heater. The installation went smoothly after that and was finished in a timely manner. Steven was knowledgeable about all of the current local and federal plumbing codes. He had arranged for a city inspector to arrive on the day of the installation. All of Steven's work passed the code inspection. However, the inspector found a small violation from the previous installation. Steven went ahead and fixed that without hesitation even though we was not responsible for the violation. Steven explained how to maintain my new heater and showed me how to ignite the pilot light should that need ever arise. He cleaned up the work area and asked me to inspect the area to be sure it was cleaned to my satisfaction. Steven didn't mind that I was hanging around to watch him work and ask questions. I am very satisfied with the work performed and I have not had any problems with the water heater following the installation. I would highly recommend S"

"I received my radon results in a timely manner. I did not hire them specifically, (so, I cannot say I would hire them again) the local company contracted them for this service. The home inspector I hired, handled this service for me and included the results in his report."

"One day turnaround to get a plumber. He was able to come even earlier than expected. He was very knowledgeable about his trade and current codes. My old water heart was 20 years old. This required additional expense I wasn't expecting. On a personal note - if he had been a doctor- I would say he had "no bed side" manners."

"It took a bit to determine just what was wrong-gas valve or flame sensor. Larry did a test 3 x to rule out the gas valve. He went to Sioux Falls to get part. He could not get the original part anywhere. One made by another company cost 5 x as much. However, he did not get that one . He found a universal part that is working just fine. I liked the fact, he was concerned about it costing me more, though it would have been easier for him"

"Excellent service! The technician arrived on time, quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem. Over the years, I've had several home appliance warranty companies. Without question, Complete Appliance Protection is the best one I've ever contracted with. Their monthly price is a little higher than most, but I do have their best protection plan with $0 deductible. You get what you pay for..."

"Chris, the owner of Dell's Plumbing, did not know very much about pool heaters so he had me wait until the next day to his father was done with another job. When his father came he and Chris tested the heater and figured out what was wrong with it. It was an easy fix, so they just told us what to get and my husband fixed it. We are very grateful that Dell's Plumbing was so willing to help. <br />"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Baltic, SD

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
