"Got estimate for $750 for surveying my property for purposes of replacing my wooden fence. Thought the price was too high. Decided in the end to replace the fence on one side and the back, both boundaries where there was already an existing fence. Went ahead and had the existing fence replaced. Then when it came time to do the third side where no fence existed, called Band B back to get them to do just that one side thinking it would be $250-$300 and was told they did not do partial surveys. They told me that the surveyor could lose his license (?). They also told me that there are companies out there that will do partial surveys but that I should and quot;run away from themand quot;.
So I had no choice but to call somebody else. I picked the second most highly rated surveyor on Angies List and without a moment's hesitation they said and quot;no problem, we can do as much or as little as you wantand quot;.
Now, what Band B does or doesn't do is their business. But a) it doesn't sound right that you should have to pay to have ALL boundaries marked when you only really need one b) if you don't do partial surveys - state it up front! The lady I spoke with claimed she had discussed this with me but she did not and c) don't imply that others who might do partial surveys are crooks that I need to run away from. That just smacks of and quot;we're really not interested in small jobs but we really don't want to tell you thatand quot;.
I will say that the lady I dealt with was very responsive and polite and had I needed all three sides done I probably would have been very happy with their services.
