"I had what I thought was a structural issue with a beam that was supporting to top floor of my two-story house. The beam looked like it was buckling and splitting and I was worried that it could potentially cause the house to collapse. I called Dan to come and take a look at the beam and give me his opinion. Thankfully Dan was able to come promptly and showed up to the appointment punctually. Dan examined the beam and assured me that the beam was still sound and able to support the house and it had what was called "shrinking" of the wood which caused the splitting appearance. He even gave me some suggestions on what I could do to support the beam further utilizing straps that could be purchased at Home Depot.
