"To sum our experience with K and M Plumbing ... 100% complete satisfaction. Wonderful overall experience. Sean, Brett, et al work flawlessly together. When they say they are coming ... they do. You never have to worry. Every step of the process is completed on time and without delay. These guys are a great group of young men who work very, very hard. They make very helpful suggestions along the way. The entire tear down and install of our bathroom was painless on our end. They clean up every day. We are totally blown away by the work ethics of these guys. They uncovered some shady things that were put in place by a previous plumber years ago, and boom, they were corrected without hesitation. I knew we choose the right company when Sean was on site when our fixtures, cabinet, etc. were delivered. Sean went through every single item. He found a small crack on the shower, and immediately sent it back. A comment was made by one of the delivery men who said "Sean ... he is a perfectionist." All the guys who worked on our bathroom were perfectionists. Bottom line, we will definitely use K and M Plumbing for all our future plumbing needs."

"Ted did an excellent job.  He is very respectful, quality oriented and attentive to your needs.  His pricing was fair, better than the big guys by about 50%.  We had bacteria and uranium in our water.  Ted installed a water softener and UV filter to take care of both of these issues. We also decided we wanted better tasting drinking water so we also had 2 RO filters installed, one in the kitchen and one in an upstairs bathroom. Water now tastes like Aquafina.  After the filters were installed we did notice a peculiar odor.  Called Ted, explained the problem and he was right on it.  He replaced the faulty filter and now we have perfect water.  Thanks Ted. <br />"

"Travis responded incredibly quickly, and was very knowledgeable about replacing indirect water heaters (a bit of a speciality, as "onlywaterheaters" from home depot apparently can't replace them?). After talking on the phone, I was able to send him photos and video of my setup, along with the model of water heater that I was hoping to have installed. From this information he was able to provide a quote, and let me tell you, being able to get a quote over the phone like that is incredibly convenient. Not only that, but he was able to take the deposit as well as the final payment electronically over the phone as well. The work itself was perfect. Him and his partner where able to get everything in and out without making any sort of mess, and the actual replacement is working way better than my old unit (both hotter water and better pressure). I can't say enough nice things about him, other than if you're in a situation that requires someone to do any sort of plumbing or heating work, he should be the first on the list."

"Very well. Tyler and his team did a fantastic job laying out and installing the tanks, plumbing, etc. It was very neatly laid out and installed in less than 3 hours. They showed up on time and were very courteous. Rick, the Water Doctor, came to our house several weeks before and carefully explained the entire system to us in considerable detail and answering all of our questions. Prior to the actual installation, we were in frequent email contact. Whether it was by email or phone, they promptly were in touch. They are a great company with which to work."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Bethlehem, CT

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
