"I have a 1968 Mustang in need of a complete transmission overhaul: leaking from all possible locations...no 3rd gear. This car also had a badly grinding rear end (axle). I needed to find a trustworthy shop to do excellent work. I know a few excellent places on the west side but needed to find transmission services in the valley.   <br /> First of all, I should mention what kind of consumer I am and this will inform you how I came to choose Russ's Transmission.  I know that a vintage mustang shares many mechanical parts with a lot of other Ford vehicles so I wasn't looking for a vintage/specialty service station and the prices that come with those places.  I am not rich and would rather find a trustworthy shop that does good work.  I will spend a little more for better work and good service.  <br /> I found Russ's Transmission on Angie's List and called them and got in contact with Mike.  Mike is very friendly and knowledgeable but he's also a good listener and very professional.  He also explained that he does work for the Mustang Club of America.  This is a huge bonus as the reason to join a club like this is to find the best places to service your Mustang. <br /> Mike called within a day and said he got the transmission going: there was a simple thing that was causing the 3rd gear to not work but he found it and said that I could pick it up at no charge but everything else (leaking and slipping) would still need to be addressed and that it would need a proper overhaul at about $1500.00.  Since my intention from the beginning was to go through the entire transmission,  I had him start work.  <br /> When work was completed, Mike securely stored the car for me while I was traveling for work. He also washed the car and put in a fresh battery.  I was happy with the work so I had him rebuild the rear end too (Russ's transmission also does rear ends) I wanted to lower the gearing from 2.79:1 to 3.55:1 for better acceleration.  He did a great job and the car runs like it's never run before.  <br /> Since rear ends are a specialty, I will update my review on the quality of this service after some miles but so far everything performs very well. <br /> The rear end work cost 1200.00 and included new gears, yoke/U-joints, pilot and axle bearings.   <br /> All in all, I am happy with the experience.  It's tough to have a good experience with service shops.  Dealing with Mike was a pleasure...I highly recommend this shop for transmission service. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"I found the soil direct here on Angie's list last night. I checked the pricing on the website and called them this morning for availability. They said they could be here same day! I was asked to complete the order online and choose a delivery window. After an hour or so they called to let us know that the driver would be arriving in 30 minutes. Amazingly, 5 minutes later, the dumptruck was at my house. Who arrives early these days? The driver was quick and professional, being careful not to run over any plants and avoiding the garage as he unloaded. The soil looks very nice, well screened and consistent. We received 70/30 soil/compost mix. Looking forward to planting some vegetables next season! <br />"

"I am in property management so I deal with contractors on a regular basis. When doing any major project I always get a minimum of 3 bids, first to make sure pricing is in line and most important to insure I am dealing with a contractor that appears to know what they are talking about. Once I receive the bids I ask for a minimum of 3 references. I have found that one of the most important things to do is look at a contractors work and interview people they have worked for. I actually visited 6 jobs Seth Pompey Landscaping did and personally visited with 3 of his customers. One thing they all had in common was how happy they were with Seth and his crew. My job consisted of a major remodel of my front and rear yards. This included removing my front and rear yards grass and all shrubbery, landscaping, water lines, sprinkler systems, gas lines and drains. After removal everything was replaced with fresh new plants, trees and sod. Seth was very engaging, walking me thru the process steep by steep. Not only was he extremely helpful, he and his crew were very flexible, allowing me to make changes along the way and in some cases not creating any additional cost. Seth even made recommendations along the way which proved to be helpful as well. Seth has surrounded himself with true craftsmen, artist's that know masonry inside and out. They created mow strips, planters faced with small stones, a fire-pit with large natural rock benches and a large cascading waterfall. All of which put the finishing touches on the landscaping he provided. In addition Seth personally took me to 4 nurseries walking isle by isle hand picking each plant, shrub and tree to be used in my yard. While doing so he made sure I was picking the right plant for the right area. I can't say enough about Seth and his staff, they are a class act, one I HIGHLY recommend."

"He arrived and I explained what was needed and he gave a reasonable quote which was also the final price. In a few days he returned at the time on which we agreed. He did a very professional job and used very good equipment to install the drip system. His work with the cactus and tree trimming also pleased me. I have waited six weeks to write this review because I wanted to make sure everything worked. It does and I am very pleased."
