"We were very impressed with Rick and Jarod; they were here when they said they would be, they accommodated us since it is our only bathroom by replacing the toilet each day prior to leaving. They went over and above to help with replacing some other sheet rock areas, magically fixed a drawer in our new vanity that the plumber said they would have to screw closed... still can't figure out how they did it! My husband stated "he is a true craftsman" and those compliments don't come easy from my husband!!! I've included before and after pics."

"I used Dan and his partner (Stoneman) to build a deck and install patios. That experience was tremendous. I wanted to replace my class 5 driveway with pavers. Dan came out promptly to measure, made another trip over to bring samples. His next trip was to start digging out the old and installing the new. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate so this was a 3 day installation. It looks wonderful! All the neighbors have commented and been very complementary. The curves fit perfectly. Dan wanted to put some retaining stone on the side of the driveway and he personally picked out some sparkly pieces to add to the overall look. <br />"

"I met Joel a couple of years ago while he was doing work for a neighbor. I took his card and told him that if the job he did held up, I would be in touch. When it came time for my project, there was not a single crack in my neighbors driveway, so I contacted him. <br /> The contract I signed called for the replacement of a broken asphalt driveway and rotten timber retaining wall. The project started out simple enough, with a bid of about $12,000, but the city stepped in and required special engineering and permits that were not part of the original quote. In addition the street in front of the house was under construction and changes that the city made meant several changes in the design of the wall and steps. <br /> The change orders for an additional wall, and the purchase of concrete patio furniture also increased the price <br /> His work was meticulous and artistic. He used gentle curves and angles on the wall and steps. He installed irrigation pipe under the patio to another part of the yard in case we wanted to irrigate at some time in the future. <br /> His price was very competitive(although slightly higher) than some others I got. I selected him because I knew his work, His bid also included thicker than customary concrete with more steel. He told me it is cheaper to do it right than to come back and fix problems later. <br /> Given the problems with city engineers and street construction, the job took longer than expected, but Joel and his crew were extremely efficient, and as often as possible left the property in a condition that we could use the driveway overnight. <br /> I was very pleased with the result, and I highly recommend his work <br />"

FAQs for brick and stone patios, walks, and steps installation projects in Blue Earth, MN

When cleaning your flagstone patio, begin by gently hosing off loose dirt and debris. Use a mild solution of white vinegar and water or diluted dish soap to scrub the surface with a soft-bristled brush. Avoid using abrasive tools, such as wire brushes, as they can damage the stone’s seal and finish. This careful approach effectively removes mold and grime while preserving the natural beauty of your patio.

Flagstone naturally offers a neutral palette that includes shades of grey, black, red, yellow, brown, and tan, and its inherent color cannot be altered. Choosing varieties like bluestone provides a subtle bluish tint that complements many exterior designs. These natural hues enhance curb appeal and create a refined, timeless look in your outdoor space, ensuring a sophisticated finish with minimal upkeep.

Flagstone for a patio must have a minimum thickness of 1.5 inches to reliably support furniture and foot traffic. Using stone that is two to three inches thick is recommended to ensure lasting durability. The increased thickness prevents cracking under load and enhances long-term performance. Investing in thicker flagstone provides superior stability and resistance to weather conditions, ensuring your outdoor space remains both safe and attractive.

You can paint a flagstone patio by using a high-quality, outdoor elastomeric latex paint designed for heavy foot traffic. Painting not only refreshes the patio’s appearance but also creates a waterproof barrier that protects the stone from damage. Regular reapplication every one to two years maintains its durability and visual appeal, ensuring your patio remains both stylish and well-protected.
