"Best experience I have ever had when purchasing a new roof. Started exactly when they stated. Even had a couple surprises that where handled. The area looked better than it did after they left no trash on the ground and no nails. I will definitely hire again for rental properties. Very professional and got an estimate right after they looked at the roof while I was with Rodney. Highly recommend this company to anyone from shingles to metal roofing."

"ABC Roofing did a fabulous job replacing my old roof. From the first phone call to scheduling the work, to the final phone call, I could not have been more satisfied. John came out and provided an estimate, then Sonja worked with me to schedule the work. John and his crew finished my home in one day. My retired neighbor across the street told me that she watched the workers all day and that she was very impressed with how careful they were about getting the old shingles into the trash bin, how they laid out plastic over the grass around the whole house to keep from damaging anything or leaving a mess, and she was particularly impressed with how hard the roofers worked. She said no one was sitting around or wasting any time. And she mentioned that 'every bit of black paper was removed, down to the wood'. She was so excited I received such great service! (I think she'll be calling ABC soon! I would never have known any of these details myself since I wasn't home. If you're looking for superior quality, customer service that is both friendly and casual, but still professional, ABC Roofing in Avon, IN will not let you down."

"Trying to find a handyman in the Muncie, IN area is a real drag. I was desperate for someone originally to put to put a desk together for me. Thankfully, I found All Things Done. He put my desk together in no time and I asked him what other services he does and when I found out he did painting and plumbing I hired him for those jobs too. He installed a garbage disposal and painted. Troy Baine's company All Things Done is a delight to deal with. He assessed what I needed and gave me straightforward answers to all my questions. He is friendly, respectful and trustworthy. More importantly, the work he did was of top quality. Fast service. I recommend him highly for anyone in the Muncie area looking for someone who is reliable and competent and PROFESSIONAL. Yes, I am very happy. If you need a general contractor contact him."

"

Charlie is a great guy to work with and as he promised his guys came in early in the morning and started the work at 8:00 AM and were done with everything by 4:00 PM. This includes ripping off the existing roof, install new roof and clean us all the dirt. I am very happy with their work and will recommend to anyone without any second thoughts.

"The work started on schedule and the crew came daily and spent all day each time. The job was tough for them in that we have three gables protruding from the roof on the third floor, and the outsides of the gables are rounded. This required a lot of precise metal work, molded to fit over the gables' round part and sealed properly along the borders of the sloping roof and around the windows. The crew worked long hours, meticulously to get it right -- for example, to allow proper water drainage along the back and sides of the gables -- and it seems that they did get it right. Also, our carport required nice handiwork with the metal. All told, with the last part of the project being asphalt re-roofing, the work crew was here for more than week.
I should add that our previous asphalt roofing was damaged over at least two hailstorms, so we were helped by home insurance. In fact, after the insurance company offered its initial settlement, the Metal Pro Roofing salesman phoned the insurance adjuster to point out damage that he had missed. The insurance company increased the settlement substantially.
IF there had been no hail damage and insurance payout, we would not have been at a time when the roofing needed replacement. And when that time had come, I can't say 100 percent that we would have been ready to invest the amount that this job cost. That being said, we really like the results and were fully happy with Metal Pro. Our house seems better-insulated with the new roof (the metal was installed over the existing roof). And hopefully, we won't have to worry about our roof ever again.

"Had some scheduling conflicts on the contractor's end. Originally scheduled for a Friday didn't come out until the following Wednesday. would have preferred a phone call or text about the reschedule instead of the Angies list messaging system. Inspection was quick and minor repairs went well. Eric had good advise to offer and was very professional and nice. I would use him when ready to replace entire roof!"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Boston, IN

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
