He wasn’t sure why water was appearing on the floor, but felt it may be due to some clogging of a PVC drain tube. He said it was not possible to simply clean it out, but it should be replaced at a cost of another $250 (for a pipe?). We declined. We subsequently had another repairman come in who said there is no problem cleaning the tube and did so. The material clogging the pipe is shown in the photo."

The second job involved modifications of the space to accommodate a see-through fireplace, and Reign of Fire even recommended a fantastic stone mason who created a stone surround in both rooms, including mantles made of reclaimed wood and a one-piece hearthstone. He did not do any troubleshooting whatsoever, only proceeded to say we needed a new water heater. He gave us a quote which included many warranties we did not want so we declined the quote and only paid for the service call. I asked the tech if he could at least light the pilot for us he said he could not for safety reasons. We had another company install which did not do any troubleshooting either. Turns out the gas meter outside was clogged and that is why our old heater was not working. They should have did some troubleshooting but did not do so to make an obscene amount of money. We were screwed by both companies. Our utility company changed out the gas meter and started our new water heater. Companies need to do troubleshooting and actually care about people and not just about making a quick buck."
