"We had an excellent experience with Garcia Roofing from obtaining the estimate of cost to the completion of the job. They were professional and did a fantastic job. Everyone that we dealt with at Garcia was friendly and very helpful to us. The crew worked extremely hard, arrived early each day and worked until dark to complete the job. Our new roof looks beautiful and our neighbors have stopped by to tell us how good it looks. We are so glad that we went with Garcia Roofing and would recommend anyone we know that needs roofing repair or replacement to use them as well."

"Everything was complete in a timely manner. Estimate was given the day after I called, and the repairs made just a couple of days after that. Reliable, courteous, and reasonable price for a small job. I won’t hesitate to call them back when I need the whole roof replaced one day."

"The work was all completed on time and in budget.  There was constant contact between me and the office.  I was so pleased to be able to get someone on the phone no matter what the issue was.  They even worked with my insurance adjuster and came out on their own time to go over the rain damage with him!  Seriously above and beyond customer care.  They have done a number of jobs for me and we won't use anyone else.  As far as I'm concerned (and we've tried a lot before them) they are the best roofers in the city.  Honest, solid work and experts in all materials.  I'm hesitant to even make this review because they may get too busy for me to get on their schedule but they earned a good review. <br />"

"Repairs to my Mother's roof were good, survived a 4 inch rain fall in two hours. The work on the workshop went very well. It started to rain about an hour before completion of the job but the guys kept on working and finished. The temperature had dropped a lot but they kept right on until the job was done. In the dark and rain they cleaned up the site very well."

"Jeff is truly a "Jack of All Trades", he spent a day at our daughter's house in New Orleans doing everything from power washing to installing dimmers, trimming doors and hanging curtain rods. He arrived with a well equipped trailer furnished to conquer any job and works quickly and efficiently. No job too big or small and his rates are very reasonable. We will definitely be calling Jeff again!"

"Phoenix Exteriors was a godsend. They donated their time and money to help us. We are a small nonprofit called the HALT Club in Yorkville that provides a meeting place for twelve step recovery meetings like AA, NA, CA, and DRA. Our roof had been damaged last year in a storm. Our insurance company only paid a small amount for a temporary fix, which we did. But we could not afford to have the proper permanent repairs done. The first company came to patch it up but 5 months later the roof started leaking again and the water damaged the 2 story ceiling which we had to rip out. We weren’t sure what to do or how we were going to pay to fix it. Steve and his team at Phoenix Exteriors heard of our predicament and offered to help. They were amazing and donated all the materials and labor. They not only fixed the damage they redid the whole roof which included tearing off all the old shingles and replacing the damaged plywood underneath. They were very professional and had the whole job was done very quickly. We highly recommend them not only for their superior work but because of their generous and kind hearts. The world needs more people and companies like this. Thank you so much for all your help, we are very, very grateful. ~ The HALT Club"

"I found AHC on Angie's list after having such a negative experience with a previous contractor (2008-09) whom we heard about through word of mouth… an entire house renovation which resulted in immediate exterior railing failures and badly deteriorating decks/paint/decking among other things. With multiple decks and railings now necessitating demolition and rebuild, I wanted to make sure we didn't have a repeat of this earlier experience, so signed up for Angie's list and contacted AHC because of their excellent ratings. Our experience with AHC could not have been more different than our experience with the earlier contractor: There were no surprises or excuses - Elbert's team was extremely knowledgeable, well organized, respectful, stayed on schedule & budget, was always available to answer questions and give suggestions, worked around our schedules and provided high quality work with proper exterior and quality materials. If the elements interfered (June rain!) requiring any adjustment, they always came back quickly and took care of it without extra fees. Their work ethic was one of excellence. The carpentry and painting are beautiful, something we now feel confident will last for years. We called Elbert and his team back for other exterior repairs shortly afterwards - and again were extremely pleased. I recommend them highly."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in New Orleans, LA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
