"Tammy and her crew do fantastic work. They have been our go to roofing company for over 10 years. When our 22 year old roof finally gave up the ghost, we booked them to replace it. They worked with the materials delivery schedule, which was a Friday morning delivery. The crew showed up the very next day just before 7AM. It turned out to be an extremely hot and humid day, but the guys just chugged away, only stopping for lunch around 1PM. Roof and cleanup was completely done by 6PM. They were very careful during the tear off process to avoid any damage to our backyard garden that is right up against our house, and kept all the debris out of our in ground pool. The architectural style shingles and USA’s awesome work have given us a beautiful new roof. We highly recommend them, and Tammy and her crew will continue to be our roofing contractor for the future."

"The project went very well, and our teens now have the best bathroom in the house. We went from a pink tiled bath with an old, single sink vanity (pink, also), pink tub and pink toilet to an updated bath with a separate toilet / bath area, plenty of built in storage, and two sink areas. Tom has done many projects for us and all have been above expectations. Tom is great about making sure the details are done right. I had specific ideas about what I wanted in this bath project, and they were executed flawlessly."

"They quoted the job in days spent and number of employees at this address. They showed up on time and the day scheduled. However, three employees all left at the same time two maybe three different times to get parts. I failed to understand the reasoning for this when they gave me an itemized quotation with the parts needed to complete the job front. Please note: this was not scheduled through Angies List but through one of the big box home improvement stores."

"After receiving several reputable referrals and conducting our own research, our family decided to work with Moss Roofing. We are pleased to share that they exceeded our expectations. Your home is one of the largest investments you make, and it's personal. Finding someone you trust to complete the work and care about the level of detail as if it were their own home is very hard to find. Scope of Work Completed: • New shingles • Replace box vents with vent ridge • Remove chimney • Replace fascia & metal • New gutters • New soffits Our initial interaction was with Benny Noland. Benny, an expert in his field, made us feel confident we were working with the best. He was down-to-earth, answered all our questions, and was always prompt in responding. A specific instance that stands out is when a small tree fell on our property while we were on vacation. Benny took the time to trim and cut the tree for us, going above and beyond his duties. Thank you, Benny! The project was then smoothly handed over to Chris Davisson, who managed everything from start to finish. Chris was outstanding to work with. His team was respectful of our home and meticulous in their work. Chris was a great communicator throughout the entire process, being honest, upfront, and friendly. He addressed all our concerns and assured us we would be taken care of, staying true to his word and commitment. We also had the pleasure of working with Delaney Courtney and Allison Moss behind the scenes, and they were equally wonderful. Having been in customer service for 14+ years, I have high expectations for what constitutes a great client experience. Moss Roofing provided an exceptional experience for me and my family. I highly recommend this company for their quality of work, experienced staff, professionalism, and integrity. Thank you for everything you've done for our home!"

"Last month we hired Rocklane Co. General Contractors to replace our roof and gutters, and to install new gutter guards. From the first visit to begin the quote process to the final inspection of the completed work, our experience with Rocklane was nothing short of exemplary. Let me start by sharing that I am a very particular homeowner. I am also an avid and capable DIYer since I’ve had too many experiences with disappointing contractors and unprofessional work. Consequently, I have learned to do plenty of research in advance and to carefully vet prospective contractors before I am willing to hire anyone. When Kevin Kortzendorf came to our home to conduct the site visit and provide our quote, I literally had four pages of questions ready for him. Kevin carefully, and in detail, described exactly how Rocklane would replace our roof and gutters, and install our new gutter guards. He also listened, and responded, very patiently as I asked my many questions and expressed my concerns about the materials and work practices that would be used throughout the project. I had Kevin return two more times for more questions, explanations, and clarifications before we decided to hire his company. By the way, Rocklane was just one of several contractors that we “interviewed” prior to making our hiring decision. At the conclusion of our vetting process, it was clear to us that Rocklane employed only industry best-practices in its work, and would not cut any corners on our project. And we never once felt pressured or hurried by Kevin throughout that process. Mike Cobb, our project supervisor, was present the entire time while our roof and gutters were being replaced. He was always fully engaged - up on the roof, around back, down the sides, out in front - watching all the details of the work being done, and giving instructions as necessary to ensure that Rocklane’s, and my, standards were being fully met. They covered all of our flower beds, landscaping areas, garage doors, and windows, and went the extra mile to erect a wooden “tent” over our newly installed air conditioner compressor unit to ensure it would not be damaged at all. They also completed a very thorough clean-up at the end of every workday. The work was very well done, and the new roof and gutters look great! I was particularly impressed by how careful and thorough Rocklane was regarding replacement of all the siding and wood trim that had to be removed to install the new flashing where the vertical walls and roofline meet. In fact, when Rocklane finished replacing the vinyl siding, it actually looked better than when the house was first built. I can’t overstate how pleased we are, especially for Mike Cobb’s careful oversight and detailed post-project follow-up. I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to recommend Rocklane Co. General Contractors, and Kevin and Mike, to anyone. I would hire them again without hesitation!"

"My experience with Custom Exteriors was nothing short of dreadful. Our sales rep Kyle came out sat at our kitchen table and gave us an estimate to completely reside our house, pre-painted James Hardi board and batten, new soffits, gutter boards and gutters. We received 3 other quotes and even though their quote was the more by $5000 we went with them because we thought we could trust them to complete high quality work with a high quality product in a timely manner. We based this off the reviews online and word of mouth from people in our community. Materials were dropped off the second week of January and work commenced. The crew that showed up to our house and noticed they didn’t drive customer exteriors trucks but wore their apparel. We later we found out that they don’t actually work for them but were sub contractors, we weren’t made aware of this till after the fact. When your trusting someone with your home you expect a modicum of transparency. I wanted Custom exteriors to work on my house not some random siding crew. After work was completed per our foreman we walked through the project and what was on our house looked like used siding installed by people who either weren’t skilled enough to complete the task or didn’t care enough to take the time to do it right. The large pre-painted panels had large sections of paint scraped off due to mishandling of materials, over 90% of the house still needed caulked in, areas above windows and doors that appeared no one knew how to use a tape measure, square or cut in a straight line. The crew came back out to fix the issues but only corrected a few things. We then walked through the project with Kyle and Tom. This is where Kyle blamed our product choice of the pre-painted Hardi as the cause of all our issues, not the fact that the installers dragged the panels off the pile damaging finished surfaces or marking up panels with pencil and not cleaning it off. I feel it’s worth noting that we paid an extra $10,000 for pre-painted so we didn’t have to paint the house. After the 4th time of guys coming out to work on our house to “fix” the issues we contacted our foreman and requested the owner to look at the house. Matt came out to look at the house and by the initial tone of the conversation it was evident that he had been told our concerns weren’t valid. After the walk through and seeing all the issues he had a different view and asked for the opportunity to make it right. I will hand it to Matt. He did come and spend a few weeks out personally working on the house to correct the issues that hadn't been resolved, but it did take FOUR separate times over 3 and a half MONTHS of crews stating the job was done to get there. Unfortunately after a few hard rains we did find that we had two windows upstairs leaking due to the first installer's. The window trim was holding water to the house and not allowing it to shed. We fortunately had opened up one wall already to fix issues from old windows, but in our freshly redone nursery the damage was done. We had to remove all the completed trim, bead board, and drywall under the window and found mold had already formed. I never asked for a discount for all this trouble or the damage caused but honestly held out hope they might as a goodwill gesture. When Kyle brought our final invoice it was for the full amount, when questioned he was surprised that we would ask for a discount…..He then went on to state that they lost money on the job due to all the extra man hours they had to put in to fix all the issues. Then went on again blaming our product choice and not the hacks your company allowed to work on my house who caused all the issues in the first place. When you trust someone with your home and a lot of money you expect it to be right the first time or at least the second…..not the 5th."

"Would 100% hire again. Professional and timely! Fantastic experience! One year after building our home, half of it burnt down. So, not only was this devastating, but we needed to ensure that any work done was up to par, or better, than the original construction. They delivered and then some. This restoration company went above and beyond in fixing up my place after a fire. Their attention to detail and commitment to quality were outstanding. Now, my house feels completely renewed, and I couldn't be happier with their excellent service. Additionally, we added space above our garage as well as an outside balcony with stairs and we are more than thrilled with the result. Also, Mike (one of the workers) is the hardest working man in the construction business. Highly recommend them for anyone needing restoration or upgrades!"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Brooklyn, IN

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
