"Very efficient crew that took only 3 hours to do my entire 2 story house. John respected my input on what product to use. I had several other bids on the project and John was to very first to arrive."

"Alive maintenance was prompt, professional, and affordable. I was embarrassed by the condition I allowed them to get to. Alive's employee never made me feel like I had been neglectful, I really appreciated that."

"I originally hired this company for a series of small projects related to caulking, painting, and adding a molding bar to stairway, as well as installing a patio shade and installing curtain rods and related hardware. I have been extremely pleased with both the high quality of work (which includes great eye for design, not just the mechanics of the labor) and the high level of customer service and communication. Just the fact that David shows up when he says he will scores points with me based on past experiences with other handymen who have not shown nearly the communication and timeliness he has. We would definitely hire Phillips Woodworking again - and we will, for another project. UPDATE 9/14/19: I just wanted to add that David just completed a project to paint our kitchen cabinets - a project that others dismissed as a bad or unfeasible idea - and we are absolutely thrilled with the results. When we were talking to him about our kitchen remodeling ideas, he suggested that our particular cabinets may indeed be paintable. From suggestion to delivery/completion, David has been outstanding to work with. As I noted regarding the other projects he completed for us, he has arrived on time, worked efficiently, cleaned up after himself, both taken direction and provided great design judgement, and been a very pleasant person to have working in your home. Heâ s not just an excellent woodworking expert, but a great guy. Heâ s bright and personable and easy to work with. Weâ re going to miss him! Now, as far as the cabinet painting project, David looked at a photo of another set of cabinets we liked, suggested the perfect type and color of paint, and just executed perfectly. What was once a dream is now a reality, it is the centerpiece of our kitchen. We couldnâ t be happier. He even realigned several cabinet doors that were not hung correctly, and did unrelated paint touch up work and other work for us during the cabinet painting project. I would highly recommend Phillips Woodworking for any cabinet or woodworking projects."

"Carlos and his crew were excellent. They were here when they said they would. They did an excellent job of power washing the house and taking the black off the logs of the house. The home was way past due for staining. Carlos made sure we were happy with the color BEFORE they applied to the house. We have spindle railings and they did an awesome job. They also did the deck floor. Amazing! They covered the windows so the stain didn’t get on them. I can’t say enough good things… Highly recommend!!!!"

FAQs for small projects painting or staining projects in Brussels, WI

You'll need about two gallons of paint to fully cover your kitchen cabinets with two coats. Since each gallon covers around 350 square feet, it's a good idea to measure your cabinets or use a paint calculator to determine exactly how much you'll need. Starting with one or two coats of primer and then applying two to three layers of paint will give you a flawless, durable finish. Using high-quality paint can reduce the number of coats needed and provide a long-lasting finish.

The best type of paint for your kitchen cabinets is latex paint because it applies evenly and creates a durable finish. If you're painting wood surfaces and need extra adhesion, acrylic paint is a great alternative. We don't recommend oil-based paint for residential use due to its VOC emissions. For finishes, go with eggshell, semi-gloss, gloss, or satin, as matte finishes aren't as durable or as easy to clean.

The best method for painting kitchen cabinets is spray painting because it gives you a smooth, even finish without brush strokes. While brushes and rollers can work, they often leave marks and require more effort. If you're aiming for a professional look, spray painting is your best bet to enhance the beauty and durability of your cabinets.
