We requested quotes last Sunday, 7/20, and Linas from Call The Movers got in touch with us right away to provide us with a range based on the scope of work. Our movers arrived promptly at 8:30am today, loaded the truck ensuring all items were taped and secure, and got us moved approximately 40 miles down the road to our new home. They unloaded the truck and moved everything to the parts of the house where the items would be stored and were courteous and helpful. "I hired Starline Van Lines LLC for a move from GA to NY, initially quoted $1,930 with a $700 deposit. After correcting the inventory to 124 items, my estimate increased to $5,485 with another $1,000 deposit. On move day, movers from an undisclosed subcontractor, MoveKing LLC, arrived instead of Starline. Despite removing large items, I was told my quote (1250 cf) was insufficient. I was forced to pay an additional $1,892.50 before loading began. Only half the truck was filled, and I was told the rest would cost $1,200 more?even though all items were part of the original quote. Items left behind included TVs, a desk, recliners, and bedroom sets. The mover said they'd return the next day, but as of the 10:02pm of July 4, the move remains incomplete. This reflects deceptive pricing, failure to disclose subcontracting, and violation of moving laws. I request a refund and will continue to investigate both companies."
