"Bill Martins Flood Crew is excellent. In December, just before Christmas, my finished rec room flooded when my sump pump failed--soaked carpet, cardboard boxes, books, furniture with sewer water. I thought I would not find anybody this time of year to help me. But I called Bill Martins from Flood Crew, and he came out right away. He looked at the basement and gave me an analysis of my damage on the spot. He was wonderful. He took care of getting detailed estimates to my insurance company and then made arrangements for me with all the needed specialists. First, I wouldn't have known where to start, and second I wouldn't have had a clue whom to call. I needed crews to remove the carpet, cut out drywall all around to dry it out, check for mold, test for asbestos, and then remove everything. And, of course, fixing the sump pump, installing flooring, putting everything back, and lots of details in between. All of this obviously can't be completed in a week or even a month. My work was not the only project that busy contractors had. My situation was far more complicated than I thought it would be. Ultimately, it took four months, which I thought was very reasonable. And the result is so beautiful--no corners cut, no putting up with mediocre results, all this for the same price and time or less than others quote. Be patient. Be flexible. "My entire experience was awesome - flexible scheduling and thorough completion of stretching and cleaning all the carpet in my house. Even tough stains I could not get out myself are now gone - my carpet is now as close to new as it could be!

"I had him do several small jobs and one bigger job. The small jobs were hanging ring towel holders in two bathrooms, hang a smoke/c.o. detector, replace a piece of siding outside. The big job was installing a new disposal. A couple days later my dishwasher wasn’t working so I called a company to come fix it. But after giving it some thought I decided maybe it had something to do with the new disposal. And sure enough, it did. So I had to cancel the repair people and called Handyman Helper back. And they realized the problem immediately and sent the guy back on Monday morning to fix it. "The work was messy but The crew was very hard working. The jackhammer hit a pipe under our sink. They came back to fix that. While the amount of water was drastically reduced in our basement, I will never feel secure enough to finish it. They have returned 4-5 times to troubleshoot the problem because their service has a lifetime guarantee. The last time they came (2 years after original job) they added another sump pump and redug one of the ditches. It seems to have helped but I still see a very small amount of water seeping through a few cracks in the floor. With two small kids in the house, it's exhausting to keep having service people in and out of your house. I'm not happy it took so many visits, but I think overall that they were fairly quick in responding to my calls and getting out to our house."

Jesse, the owner, sent one of his business partners (John) to do a free inspection and estimate on our basement.  John was very nice and extremely knowledgeable.  After inspecting the basement he recommended a dual pressure relief system because of the large number of cracks that were appearing on the walls and on the basement floor.  Our water table here is higher than a lot of other places, and so our foundation was under a good amount of water pressure all around it.

John sent me an estimate, which was deducted by 20% because of a deal that Comfort Basement was offering.  He further deducted another 10% because we were military.  The job was slated for just over 10,000 dollars but ended up being only 7,800.

On the day of the project Brian was sent out with his team of 5-6 men (Brian was the team leader).  They explained everything that they were going to do and made sure that we were ready for it.  They put a plastic barrier up between the basement door and the garage door in order to prevent any dust or particles from getting into the kitchen and dining room.  The project took a total of two days.  Brian kept me informed as to how things were going the entire time.  He even confirmed where I wanted to sump pump drainage pipe to be placed and whether or not I was happy with where it was draining to. 

Brian and his team made sure that my yard was undamaged by the concrete that they were removing.  They also vacuumed and cleaned everything before leaving.  They were all extremely professional and they did an excellent job.  After the project was complete, Brian showed me everything and explained everything to me.  He even left me with some Tyvec tape in case I needed to repair any cut or holes that develop in the vapor barrier.  In the end I was very pleased with the work and would gladly use Comfort Basement to help finish my basement in the future.

"It turned into a huge waste of time. The tech took the samples and submitted them to the lab, which apparently "lost" them, which I didn't find out about until after the expected time to receive the report had past, thus ruining the timeline that had been put together to deal with the situation (this was for a home that was about to list for sale, and I needed to know asap whether it could list or needed to be held back for remediation). To their credit, they ended up not charging me for the sample-taking (as I did not receive any results), and they were not able to revisit the property on a schedule that was quick enough to suit my needs. The other frustrating part was that they made very dire-sounding comments about the property, which were totally unfounded. The problem at the property was trivial (this was verified by subsequent testing), and no actual on-going problem existed and there was no need for destructive inspection or major renovation. And yet the tech had essentially said, "well, we can demo the bathroom", i.e. suggesting that spending $3k-5k was what I should do, and would need to do. It felt like it was an attempt to coerce me into a major expense unnecessarily."
