"We were very satisfied with the work done by the contractor and with all dealings with the contractor and his employees. Previous to the start of the contract work, we came up with a design and plans working with Kathy Shumate. We then researched six separate contractors, before deciding to use Professional Design and Remodeling. We felt their price was fair (although not the lowest) and we were very impressed with what we heard and saw when we checked out three references. Working with Mikal Shumate before and during the project. We had a good understanding of the work to be done before the project started. All work was done by his employees with the exception of measurement and installation of the quartz counter tops. His staff showed up promptly each day at 7 a.m., worked hard, were very courteous and did a good clean up at the end of each day. Almost every day, Mikal would visit the job site to check on progress, talk to his staff, bring us up to date on what was happening and discuss any questions or concerns that we might have. There were no surprises over the course of the work. The work was completed in one month; a much shorter period then we anticipated. This was largely due to good planning by both the contractor and the home owners."

"We have never done a remodel or construction project, but we cannot have asked for a more gracious and committed contractor to have done this reasonably large job on a custom home. <br /> <br /> He became our contractor after our first contractor began demolition, but had a scheduling conflict that left us without a contractor. His relative youth and laid-back demeanor at first raised questions in my mind when we were interviewing contractors, but once we got started, those reservations were gone. <br /> <br /> We spent about 6 months on the project working closely with him (originally estimated 4months, but holiday travel/schedule and some decisions we made lengthened the process). Rob was there nearly every day, responsive via phone and email, and always very courteous. He has notable high-end custom building experience, so has a great network of experienced, skilled tradesmen who do the job right (at least most of the time - this is a honest report, after all) and an eye for detail. He remains calm in the midst of uncertainty and understands that sometimes we needed to mull on an issue before deciding.  <br /> <br /> He is growing his construction business, and his philosophy of treating the project like his own and doing the right thing serves him and his clients well. He only works on 1-2 projects at a time, so there is good attention to the project. He is a trustworthy man (he always laid out the costs, never nickel-and-dimed us) and reasonably priced for a high-end contractor. He pays attention to his client and executed our project beautifully!"
