"William was professional and honest. He identified things that did not need to be done and things I could do myself. He was very helpful in scheduling a follow up visit needed because we had to wait for parts."

"We hired Guardian to install our security system at our Washington, DC, business. The service and quality of the work was horrible. We had cameras and an alarm system installed; it was a relatively large system. They outsource most of the work to various vendors. They could not manage their vendors; what was supposed to take a week took two months. The sales rep did not return calls, and you could never get anyone in management on the phone. Random people would show up at unannounced times. The few things that an actual Guardian employee did were they made a huge mess of our newly remodeled office and were rude to our staff. We have offices in five markets across the US and have high security at each; we have never had such a poor experience."

"Dennis and Patrick did and an excellent job in every regard. We have a 60 year old house and the electrical systems needed a lot of work. The job took three days. They did meticulous work and cleaned up thoroughly each day. They were both very polite and answered our many questions. Among the best contractors we have ever hired!"

"We will definitely be rehiring Walt again. He did an awesome job at completely gutting out the old bathroom and installing the new. He even installed the tile in the direction that was requested (diamond pattern without hesitation). He updated the electrical and installed the exhaust fan correctly (previously was not). He is very easy to work with and is very accommodating."

"My wife and I decided last year to remodel our kitchen. We went through a number of builders, most of whom never showed up to scheduled appointments. The few who did we weren't pleased with because they kept telling us what they would do instead of listening to what we wanted done. We recently had the pleasure of working with Adam on a complete kitchen remodel, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. Within fifteen minutes of meeting him we felt confident we had the right person. He listened to what we wanted and went out of his way to explain how he could make it happen. Adam’s expertise and attention to detail were evident from the start. He moved windows to make our kitchen arrangement feasible and you cannot tell that any work was done. They look like they were built that way when the house was constructed. Before the remodel our kitchen was poorly lit with two lights. We now have pot lights throughout the ceiling and under cupboard lights that are very welcome in the mornings, as they can be dimmed so you're not slapped with the brilliance of a thousand suns first thing in the a.m. As with all remodels there were some changes made along the way and he was able to adapt & always remained very professional. We had him redo the stairs to the basement (which are attached to the kitchen entrance) and the result was a work of art. Walking down the basement stairs no longer gives the impression that you're rolling the dice on whether or not they can support you all the way to the bottom. Sturdy and confident on every step. The new kitchen flooring made the rest of the house look bad so we had him lay it out into the living room and hallway. And again, it looks like it was made for the house. We waited six months to write this review to ensure everything was done correctly. Quite often you lose the thrill and start regretting some of the work that was done. Not in this case. Everything has held up perfectly & we have no regrets with our transformed kitchen. Adam’s work is exceptional, and his dedication to quality is unmatched. We are more than pleased with the results and highly recommend Adam for any remodeling project. Thank you, Adam, for rebuilding our kitchen into a space we love."

"Technician repaired issue with generator. However, apparently, since I wore a mask when he came into my house to test it (as I should during a freaking pandemic), that makes me "scared" of COVID. The unprofessional little *@?# doesn't know my situation of having to take care of elderly in-laws, which means I have to be extra careful. He wrote on the work order to send me the bill because I was "scared of COVID." This shows a failing on multiple employees, as I'm sure that the person sending invoices is not the same person doing service calls. Additionally, I sent the copy of the work order in with my payment asking if they thought that was a proper way to treat customers. I did not receive a reply, but they cashed my check. So, I have my answer and they have their review. Looks like I will be giving the Generator Pros at Shepp Electric my business going forward. Too bad, I planned to do a 22kw replacement next year too. Also, one of their techs was very condescending to my wife on a previous occasion. So much so that she refused to deal with them."

""The design process included lots of discussion about wants and needs for the renovation. We took our time about making decisions, and tried various combinations of material and colors. Everyone was patient. Once construction began, we got regular communication about progress. We were frequently asked if we had any questions or concerns. Answers were always timely. Discovery of an unexpected plumbing problem was dealt with quickly and did not delay construction by more than a day or two. It did add to the cost of the project, but it was worth doing for the overall health of the house. The crew were mindful of protecting the parts of the house not involved in construction and cleaned up each day. Easy to work with this group. Highly recommend Odell.""
Accent Tile: Mother of pearl and marble.
The tailor-made living room bookshelf was fabricated in our workshop to provide a custom storage solution complete with a unique wooden countertop, shelving, and a hidden area to effectively mask unsightly electrical cords. The wooden countertop was custom created from maple and was finished with stain and polyurethane.
The accent tile in the shower is perfectly placed within the
room to lead into backsplash of quartz counter tops.
In the bathroom, large format porcelain panels were used in the shower to create a nearly grout less surface that is easy to clean and maintain.
Navy blue shower tile was selected to compliment shaker cabinetry in navy. The wall color in “Evening Shadow” pulls
the room together calming the senses.

FAQs for generator repair projects in Canton, OH

There is often some confusion about the type of work these professionals do. They only work on electrical systems such as outlets, lighting fixtures and electrical panels – they aren’t appliance repairmen.

There are three types of electricians: Master, Journeyman and Apprentice. Electrical licensing varies quite a bit by state. Some have licenses for apprentices and some do not. Some have a master’s rank while others stop at journeyman. Despite the differences, they all require a minimum amount of experience and usually classroom time.

  • Apprentice electricians aren’t usually licensed and spend 4 years learning the trade. Throughout that time, they work on a wide range of projects to learn to become a Journeyman. They’ll do basic work like installing fixtures and replacing outlets all the way to assisting in wiring a home. Regardless of the type of project, they must always be supervised by a Journeyman or Master electrician.

  • Journeymen work without supervision. In a few states, this is the highest level available and they can do all levels of work from wiring a new home to installing a light. In some states, they need a separate electrical contractor license to run a business. In places with a master’s level, a journeyman can do all work besides design new electrical systems.

  • Master electricians usually manage a shop, design new electrical systems in new construction and oversee both Journeyman and Apprentices. They typically bid new projects. Though they focus on larger projects, it’s not unheard of for a homeowner to request a Master Electrician for a house call. If you do, expect to spend up to 25% more for the visit.

Generally, you don’t tip electricians, but that’s not to say they don’t appreciate it if you do. You can offer them something to drink or eat, like coffee and donuts. Most will appreciate it if you do.

The education and certifications required to become an electrician vary by state, though they generally follow this list:

  1. Apprentice

    • Does not always require a license depending on the state.

    • Learns on the job under Journeyman and Master Electricians.

    • Usually needs 4 years on-the-job training before they can test for a Journeyman license. Many states also require a technical degree to advance.

    • Always require supervision.

  2. Journeyman

    • Needs between 8,000 to 10,000 hours of on-the-job training and usually 500 to 1,000 hours of classroom experience.

    • Can usually supervise apprentices.

    • They can diagnose and repair electrical problems.

  3. Master

    • Achieved after an additional two years (4,000 hours) working as a Journeyman and taking the Master Electrician Exam.

    • Besides diagnosing and repairing electrical systems, they also design them. In most places they run shops and inspect Journeyman and Apprentice work.

    • Not a recognized rank in all states.

  4. Electrical Contractor License is an optional license in some states for a Master Electrician to run a business. Some states have this instead of the Master license.

Electricians make an average of $26 per hour but it ranges with experience and licensing. An apprentice may make about half that while a Master Electrician may hit closer to $40 per hour. This figure represents how much they make; not how much they bill. Their salary is only one component of their costs. They must also figure in overhead, taxes, equipment, insurance and several other expenses.

Leave electrical work to the professionals. Electrical systems are complex and potentially hazardous when not handled and installed correctly. If it were easy, it wouldn’t take 4 years to become a journeyman or 6 years for a master’s license. If you are determined to forge ahead yourself, understand home electrical safety before beginning any project.Even for simple common electrical projects, a licensed pro is best. Not only is it safer, but contractors guarantee and insure their work. Hire a professional to keep your home’s electrical systems functioning properly and safely.
