"David and his dad Modesto are hardworking and caring. They take the time to listen and help devise a plan to address your project’s needs and don’t flinch when you need to pivot and add something. I had gotten multiple quotes for a variety of projects and found Best Coat Painting was not the most expensive nor the cheapest estimate, but fairly right in the middle. Based on a neighbor’s positive experience with David I decided to hire his team for a LOT of projects. I hired Best Coat Painting to paint the exterior of my Grandma’s house, fix drywall and touch-up paint my condo before it’s sale and do extensive exterior renovation and remove the popcorn ceiling on Chun P’s and my first official home together. Our new house in Tierrasanta had recently been treated for termites and mice/rats in the carport. Lots of the wood trim looked like Swiss cheese! David’s Dad replaced and rat proofed the exterior doors on our carport shed, and replaced a beam that carries all the electric lines into the house that had been a rat village. They also replaced/repaired a lot of the fence that was falling apart. For the rest of our exterior work, day-to-day Antonio from their team was on site and in-charge. Antonio is very experienced in repair, was very hardworking and professional. Antonio and Chuy (another hard worker!) even sanded-down and repainted our mailbox, that originally I was going to throw out. The house now looks gorgeous and neighbors keep coming by to tell me that they can’t believe it’s the same place! I’ve already recommended David and Modesto to a dear friend and they are now helping her renovate a 3,000 sq-ft house in Del Cerro. She’s been really happy with the work too! We still have some interior work to do here - and I’ll be calling David and Modesto for it! Thanks guys!"

They were personable and professional, explaining the whole process. They used top notch products, and consulted with us at every step. Everything was carefully cleaned up at the end. I really felt like part of the team. It was a real pleasure to work with Dave and Juan. At the end they let us know they be happy to come back and fix anything we found later. "Alex painted all of our stucco last year and while he was here he told me he could do our driveway. I ended up giving him redoing our driveway and all and all it was HUGE project. Then less than a year after different parts of the driveway paint started to peel. I have asked him to come since March 3rd to repair and he promised several times he will show up. Never did. Never takes my calls and after having called him multiple times I got a text from him this morning that he will let me know when he has time! Here are the screenshots. Very disappointing. I thought I had found a reliable painter but he doesn?t stand behind his with. I don?t recommend this business"

"Having hosted the HGTV program “My House is Your House”, we’ve worked with and vetted many cabinet builders across San Diego and Southern California. I cannot understate enough how much of a mistake it was to choose Mr Cabinet Care for our kitchen cabinets on an Encinitas project. We are extremely disappointed with our experience with Mr Cabinet Care. We arranged & purchased custom cabinet drawer fronts that were supposed to be high-quality, but they arrived with noticeable gaps. the gaps were problematic for two reasons: 1. for the drawers / doors that closed incorrectly and 2. for being prone to collecting food debris (and unable to clean or remove that debris). When I contacted the company about this clear defect (the food /gap error), they completely dismissed my concerns, blaming “care and maintenance” instead of acknowledging the poor workmanship. Even worse, they provided doctored photos in an attempt to shift the blame, falsely suggesting that residue such as gum or putty had been left on the drawers. Not only was this completely untrue—no such residue existed in any of the photos we originally provided, nor in any additional photos we took. Falsifying evidence to avoid responsibility is not just dishonest; it’s unethical and gives us even greater concern over other claims they’ve made in workmanship or materials. The operations manager even said “The material you selected, White Oak Select, is naturally prone to expansion and contraction due to environmental factors such as heat and humidity. Upon reviewing the photos taken by the technician, it appears that the issues you are experiencing are likely related to care and maintenance, rather than any manufacturing defect.” These were installed weeks prior to our notice, not years later, and during a cool weather season. To claim extreme weather (like heat & humidity) in San diego is laughable and outrageous. Under California law, products like these are covered by warranties ensuring they are fit for their intended purpose. These drawer fronts clearly do not meet that standard, yet the company refused to honor its obligations. Instead of standing behind their product, they chose to manipulate the situation to avoid accountability. Beware if you work with them and have future warranty issues, youre going to likely run into similar defenses and accusations. I would strongly caution anyone considering doing business with this company. If they are willing to misrepresent facts and dismiss valid concerns, I can only imagine how they handle other customer complaints. We regret this purchase for our client and would never recommend them to anyone looking for quality craftsmanship or honest customer service. We will not be using them for any future HGTV projects nor recommending them to other clients or customers"
