"Because we were selling the house, we'd hoped for a simple patch, and several companies offered that as an option. Superior Roofing took a look and said they couldn't in good conscience recommend anything short of a full roof replacement, and explained why. It had been at least 20 years since the existing roof had been put on so I had no trouble believing that this was the best course of action. I appreciated their integrity. Despite a full schedule, they got us in within a week, got the job done in three or four days, and when they were done, you couldn't tell they'd been there except for the beautiful new roof."

"Installation completed within 4 1/2 days. 2 workers did the entire job. They arrived on time and worked all day. I have lead paint and they followed their appropriate protocols. They cleaned up very well each day and I did a walk thru each day with what had been completed. It made the final walk thru go easier and faster with few issues and no surprises."

"Thank goodness for Oleg helping repair my siding. He explained he does a lot of this work in the area, and because it was a 1 day job, was able to perform the work with about 3 week lead time. Oleg was able to replace the siding in 1 day and did a great job! I was impressed by the attention to detail, especially when he replaced a small screen I had installed to keep bees out of my attic. Even better the job site was totally cleaned up at the end of the day! Oleg was totally professional and sent me an email bid, email invoice, and great at communicating the timeline and did everything he said and more. This review probably sounds far-fetched at this point but I had spent months calling contractors that would take this small job and got another insanely expensive bid, so I'm very grateful to Oleg."

"The accent shingles on my house were very dirty and the paint on my front door was blistering and chipping away. I wanted the two to be a single color complementing the color of the house. I got bids from several contractors; all were pretty much in line with each other in terms of prices. There were two factors in my choice to go with Absolute Painting an Power Washing. First, the reviews I read from various sources shows their quality is stellar; second, their color consultant spent the time necessary with me to choose the right color ( not included in the bid ). They spent two full days stripping the door of its old paint, and then prepping and applying primer and paint to the shingles and door. When all was done, I was amazed at how it turned out. The new accent colors added character to the house. Their workmanship is second to none with no flaws in the areas they painted. They even went as far as providing touch up to the trim where paint had chipped off over the years. When I'm ready for the house to be fully repainted, I now know who to turn to."

"I highly recommend Marco and Moon Construction for the quality and thoroughness of work and product. I have had Marco work for me several times over the last 15 years at 2 different properties and because I trust him and the quality of work he performs, I wouldn't think of looking for anyone else to help me with painting, roofing, remodeling or repairs. This time, Marco painted our house and we also contracted with him to clean moss and debris off of our roof. Marco works very hard and was quick to alert us to other problems we had that we were unaware of. Marco is very professional and his work product is outstanding. I would not hesitate to choose Marco over any other Portland-based, northwest Oregon/southwest Washington company for interior/exterior painting, roofing, repairs and maintenance."

"I got three estimates, Dave's wasn't the cheapest but lets say I felt more comfortable with him and his crew doing the job. On Mon. July 7th just before 8 AM Dave, his son and young man 'like Dave's second son' arrived. Little bit later two young men, son's friends who are recent high school graduates got here. By 5 PM all the old fence was in a trailer to haul off, all the fence posts were set in concrete, not powdered stuff and water but concrete they mixed in a wheel barrow on site. I'd asked Dave if they could also get rid of a small shed that was falling apart. Former owners used it for their oil barrel. It was now a spider house! Dave said there wouldn't be an extra charge for getting rid of it. I didn't need fencing across back of the yard because town houses sprouted up there few years ago and developer put in a tall fence (yea!) for privacy. But when my old fence, across the back, was gone can see developer evidently didn't use pressure treated wood so in few years I'll have Dave fence that too. <br /> Even though the workers were young they did not goof off or horse around, they worked hard and it was so hot outside. <br /> On July 10, 8 AM the crew came back and put up the fences and gates. They used tight knot cedar with dog tooth to boards. Was going to have lattice along top like old fence but decided against it. Really like my new fence. My ground isn't even but the fence is built so it is in a nice straight line. My 15 # dog found a place he could get out under an area of fence so Dave put up a board along there. That kept him in the yard. But then dog found he could squeeze under one of the gates. I emailed Dave, he showed up that Sat. morning and sunk five concrete pavers into the dirt under the gate. So far so good. Never thought I'd have all new fencing in two working days. I am very pleased. <br /> Pat <br />"

"We hired Superior to re-side our house at a time when we had several other major projects going on around our property. Chad, John and the whole team are without doubt the best contractors we've ever hired. Their professionalism and HIGH SKILL level stand alone as excellent, but compared to the other teams we had out on other projects, they put everyone to shame. FIRST: I'm putting this at the top because I know it sometimes matters the most: they are SO inexpensive! They were by far the best bid we received for the EXACT same materials, skill, certifications, etc. We wanted a company with the special Hardie designation, and they have it. SHOP AROUND! You'll see... SECOND: We were home and watched the siding job most of the way through. It was refreshing to actually see guys working like they WANT a job (some of you know exactly what I mean). They hustled, they ran, the subordinates took orders, the bosses were professional. They will put on extra touches and go the extra mile to make your house look beautiful, not just "get finished". The actual quality of work was outstanding. THIRD: Their standard protocol of respect and courtesy for the homeowner are what sets them apart the furthest. After having filthy workers from other companies trudge into my house to use my bathroom - or worse, just "go" out in my bushes!! - we were SO impressed that Superior scheduled a port-a-potty to arrive before their workers even got here. They guys NEVER asked me for anything, and every time we interacted, it was respectful, polite, so great! Additionally, they cleaned up each night of the job! We weren't expecting that. They scooped up the trash, swept any mess areas, etc nightly before they headed home. Obviously, it's still a construction site, but Superior left my property cleaned up and usable each night. Other companies we had on other projects left water bottles, paint tape, concrete chips, you name it. OVERALL: I could not recommend them more highly. My neighbors have all been over talking about how amazing my house looks and several came to pick up fliers on Superior. They ARE the best game in town for siding!"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Carlton, OR

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
