Details:
We had sketches ready for the built-in we just needed a carpenter to put it all together. We asked three companies to come out and give us estimates - one declined due to being overbooked, so it was down to Pryor and our other estimate. Ralph from Pryor came out promptly and gave us good details on when we could expect to start/finish, and came up with great ideas to try and save us some money on materials.
The other estimate was for a little less, but in the same ballpark, and the other carpenter wasn't as thorough in his evaluation, so we decided to contract with Pryor.
We wish we could have started the project sooner, but that's hardly Pryor's fault - they had previously scheduled work going on and it was a busy season.
The work was being done in our main living area, and we had an infant and toddler so it was important to try and keep the disruption to a minimum - the carpenter was wonderful about only working while they were in daycare and clearing everything possible away before we brought them home for the night.
The work was completed on schedule, and we had a small additional request that we realized we needed after the carpenter left - we'd wanted an access hole for cables cut in the counter, but it hadn't been in the plans. We contacted Pryor, and they sent the carpenter out to drill the hole for us at no additional charge. It took a while for him to schedule us in - about a week - but once he got here it took him less than 10 minutes from start to completely cleaned up.

Overall we are very satisfied with the work. It didn't take long for John to review our initial drawings and issue a quote and get the job scheduled. Between the time we scheduled the job and when work actually began we made some changes to the plans and John and his guys were able to accommodate. They also found some relatively shoddy workmanship from the builders of our townhome and did their best to point out areas that needed attention. The initial demo and framing went very well and moved quickly. After demo and framing there were times when communication wasn't the best and there were many days when work wasn't done and we weren't kept up to date on the schedule, which I understand is very typical for this type of job and not unique to John and his guys. I do wish he would have used a different electrician. He was pretty messy and rarely showed up and we still have some minor flickering with the lights in our master bedroom. The finishes are excellent and John's tile work was very good. The custom vanity they built for our master is excellent and it's fits perfectly. The shower glass is just what we wanted. Overall I was vey happy with the outcome despite some minor frustrations with the process. I would definitely call John again for other major jobs.

"I am a small time real estate investor and have hired many tradesmen throughout the years. Only three times in my life have I been 100% satisfied with a job. Two of those three times were when I hired Nyberg exteriors. (The other was when I hired a friend of mine to rewire a building) Nybery put a new roof on my English tudor home in Prospect Heights many years ago. It was a very complex roof with many peaks and valleys and very steep. I can't imagine anyone doing a better job than Nyberg did. When I sold the house 15 or 20 years later, the roof was still in perfect condition and it still looked brand new. About a year ago I needed a new roof on my Northbrook house. I am happy to say they are still every bit as good as they were all those years ago. I would tell anyone, you cannot find a better roofer than Nyberg. Amazingly their prices were very reasonable also."
