"I needed some drywall work done and repainting after an electrician installed outlets above my fireplace. Also had a large paint crack in the corner of the wall. Additionally had some vent covers that wouldn’t screw in left from the previous homeowner. Garcia’s repairs got it all done for me like never even happened. Got the paint matched at Sherwin-Williams Paint Store in Oak Forest. Can’t tell the difference whatsoever of this wall and surrounding walls, looks identical. Highly recommend Sherwin-Williams emerald paint. There was no smell whatsoever from it and the quality is fabulous. So pleased with all the work they did today and I definitely will be hiring them again for future projects. They cleaned up very well before leaving as well. Thank you guys so much for everything. "

"Beyond our expectations - Highly recommended 5+ Stars. From the time we met Tom and received the quote then working with Mark and Leann on scheduling our 3 fixed Velux Skylight Replacements with Solar Powered Light Filtering white shades to our existing 30yr old Velux Skylights with alum blinds. On installation day the crew (Dave, Martin, Julio, and Jorge) were very knowledgeable, professional, kept the work area clean throughout the entire job and communicated with us how things were going. The entire work area was cleaned inside and outside. Awesome crew! In summary, we could not be any happier with the top-notch professionalism, communication, coordination and installation of our 3 fixed Velux Skylights that were exceptional throughout the entire process. Thanks Tom, Mark, Leann, Dave, Martin, Julio, and Jorge for everything. We greatly appreciate everything you did for us! Referrals will come your way from us. All the best!"

"The workmen were very skillful and finished the job in less than 2 hours. My issue was the price. It was unbelievable! Replace a broken glass on a sash window $200.00. Replace the counter weight ropes on 4 windows $350.00 per window. That is about $400 per hour per employee."

FAQs for existing skylight repair, replacements or sealing projects in Chicago, IL

Yes, skylights can heat your house. Skylights pull in plenty of sunlight, and that solar gain raises indoor temperatures during bright hours. The extra warmth is great in winter, but can feel stuffy in summer. Keep the heat in check with shades, low-E coatings, or reflective films so you enjoy the light without driving up cooling bills.

A newly installed skylight lasts for eight to 15 years when built and maintained well. Regular cleaning, prompt repairs, and removing obstructions such as leaves and debris help keep the unit in optimal condition. Consistent maintenance prevents premature deterioration and keeps the skylight operating safely and efficiently over its lifespan.

Several issues trigger skylight leaks. The unit may not sit flush with the roof, letting water sneak in, or the flashing and weather-stripping could be breaking down. Sometimes it’s just interior condensation that drips when the AC runs hard against humid outdoor air. A quick inspection tells you which fix is needed.

Replacing a skylight takes between three and five hours under straightforward conditions, with professional crews ensuring safe installation. Larger units, custom shapes, very high ceilings, or hard-to-access areas add extra complexity, extending the work time accordingly. Careful planning and expert handling guarantee a secure replacement process even when complications are present.

It is not safe to attempt skylight repair or replacement on your own because the work involves dangerous roof access, handling fragile glass, and managing a heavy frame. Expert professionals provide the necessary skills and safety precautions, ensuring that installations or repairs are performed correctly while preventing injury and additional property damage.
