"Dana from Rye Outdoors was very thorough and professional about his work. You couild tell he took pride in making my oak tree look better, but not like it had been cut back. He did a great job and took his time to make sure it was right. I would recommend Rye Outdoors again. I am still amazed at how they got all of that wood in that trailer. Great job!"

Our service began well, with very prompt and professional interaction. A note was made of the areas of specific concern for us.  In truth, each time we need to contact someone, they are very professional and polite to deal with.  Unfortunately, there seems to be a disconnect between the verbal service and the actual lawn maintenance taking place on our property.  The main problem seems to be related to crew turnover, which means each employee has a different approach and skill level. As soon as we're able to speak with the person we think is servicing our yard and he understands our needs, there's a different person the next month.

The inconsistency with skill levels/specialties became evident as one individual was barely trimming our mature topiaries, then another came and butchered one of the two, cutting away an excessive amount on the Left topiary.  It was cut back to twigs only. We had the SAME experience with our jasmine trellis - it was being trimmed as needed for 2 months and then a new person serviced us and it was excessively chopped back.   Another big concern is our porch area under the trellis. It has been left a mess each time we receive service.  The area is not blown off and there is debris (sticks and twigs) left everywhere.  After cleaning our roof off last month (which we DID appreciate) they unfortunately blew all of the debris down on top of our bushes, pavers, patio and walkway.  It looked like a hurricane had come through!   My husband called and asked that they please come back and clean up the debris. The gentleman he spoke with was again very professional and polite, however, the debris was only partially cleaned.  I collected two large piles myself and it still seems to be a problem. ** We certainly do not expect to clean up after our weekly yard service, that rather defeats the purpose of paying for full service lawn maintenance.

We sincerely hope there will be some consistency with our maintenance crew and they will become more attentive to details. We were optimistic about long-term service with Maintain.

FAQs for trees & shrubs treat, protect and maintain projects in Clermont, FL

The optimal transplanting season depends on your tree species, but most trees respond best when moved during dormancy. For deciduous trees, late fall after leaf drop or early spring before bud break provides the lowest stress periods. Evergreens transplant better in early fall or late summer when soil temperatures remain warm enough for some root growth. Avoiding transplanting during active growth periods helps trees direct energy toward establishing new roots rather than supporting foliage.

While technically, trees of any size can be transplanted with the right equipment and expertise, practical considerations limit what's reasonable for most homeowners. Trees with trunk diameters under 15 inches are most commonly transplanted in residential settings. Success rates decline as trees increase in size and age, with specimens over 24 inches in diameter presenting significant challenges and costs. For large trees, carefully weigh the substantial investment against the potential benefits and survival probability.

Most transplanted trees require one to two years to fully establish in their new location, with larger specimens often needing additional time. During this establishment period, the tree regenerates roots that were inevitably lost during the move. Signs of successful establishment include normal seasonal growth patterns, healthy leaf development, and reduced dependence on supplemental watering. The quality of aftercare during this critical period significantly influences long-term survival rates.

Self-transplanting is feasible for small trees with trunk diameters under two to three inches if you have proper tools and follow correct techniques. However, medium to large trees require professional expertise and specialized equipment to ensure tree survival and property protection. While professional services cost more initially, they achieve much higher success rates and prevent potential damage to your property or the tree itself. The investment in professional services often proves worthwhile when considering the value of mature trees.
