"<p>Somehow my laptop corrupted the operating system and would not even boot up. Alexander Technical Resources (Spencer) came to my house to try to repair my computer. We decided that my computer needed to go to their repair facility for some serious work. They were able to save all my data, ran thorough diagnostics and repaired my computer. It was such a relief that I did not loose and data.</p> <p>This is the second time I have used them. The first was to set up this very laptop and transfer all the data from my old PC.</p> <p>I would recommend Alexander Technical Resources and will use them for any other computer repairs. </p> <p><br /></p> <br /> <br /> <br />"

"Not only did they install the panels, but since our home was older they also had to install a main breaker box on the outside of the house. They went the extra mile to insure the panels were secured properly which required them to work in the attic. The roof is metal with ridges which required a little extra planning for the layout. They spent time making sure the final layout of the panels would have a pleasant appearance. On our initial contact  (May 2012) with SSL they provided an estimate that we were comfortable with (we checked with two other companies, as well) and gave them the go ahead. But after a few months realizing the effect of the panels we had them add more panels. Two years later we added more panels because we increased the size of the house. During all the times they were at the house and doing the work we were very pleased with the technical knowledge, efficiency, promptness and cleanup after the job. They also contacted us periodically to see how everything is working including the reporting system. Although we have met our limit, we would definitely recommended them."

"This was easily the best experience I've had in Alamogordo with any, and I mean ANY home repair company.  Between electric work and plumbing I've recently dealt with four companies (my house has all but fell apart), and Rufus Electric was honestly the only company I can say was an A+ to deal with.   <br /> We lost electricity to half of our house, and after working with Miranda Electric, I figured I'd try someone else.  First of all, Rufus tried to help me out over the phone with my problem, which would have benefited them zilch had their prescription have worked.  That was awesome.  Second, they showed up about four minutes (literally, four freakin' minutes) after I got off the phone with them to diagnose my problem.  After they figured out it wasn't a breaker problem, they let me know they had a full plate for the next couple days, but that they'd be back to fix it.  They showed up two days later, fixed the problem, and only charged me $50!  I spent $80 to have Miranda Electric fix an outlet!!!!  I know where I'm going for any electrical work.  Seriously, take your business to Rufus Electric.  They're nice, relaxed, fair, and I can't recommend them enough. <br /> A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ <br />"

"The person performing the service had to make several trips because one of the "new" parts turned out to be faulty. I found both Complete Protection and their local repair contractor to be both very responsive and totally professional at every stage of the repair process."

"<p>All went very well. This is the 2nd time I have contracted with Live Wire Electric (Joe Dan Ortiz). </p> <p>Joe Dan came by and we did an inventory of various issues inside the house that I had been procrastinating on.</p> <p>We also reviewed the work required on the deck. He came by as promised with himself and 3 other electricians and they fixed all the in-house issues in one afternoon.</p> <p>The deck work required close coordination amongst the 4 of them and it was a pleasure to watch as the work was being completed.</p> <p>While showing up as promised and completing the job as promised should not be an unusual event, but it is in todays world.</p> <p>I whole heartedly recommend Live Wire Electric. </p> <p>Joe Dan can be reached at 575-808-0612 and tell him John Moore recommended him!</p> <p><br /></p> <p><br /></p> <br />"

"I found the site over the web and contacted thecompany. From pictures sent via email, they helped me decide on size, and design elements and promptly sent me referrence since they reside outside my area. The item was made, shipped and damaged in transit and they took care of details of returning item to them, dealing wiht the insurance company, correcting the issue, keeping me up to date in the process and remaking the awning and getting it back to me. They supplied detailed instruction to my contractor for installation and were available via phone for consult during the process. I am very pleased."

"Levi did a fantastic job on our inspection. He was thorough, efficient, polite and professional. He seemed very knowledgeable and shared his suggestions concerning the course we could take to make certain repairs and projects he thought were a priority. We had a very tight closing date and Levi made the effort to fit our home inspection in during a very busy time for inspectors. He was punctual and had the report to me by the following day. Levi was also able to coordinate a last minute pest inspection for us as well. After asking some of my friends for recommendations for inspectors, they all mentioned they had been disappointed with their inspector, so I'm pleased we used Angie's List and found DCHI. I happily recommend Levi and DCHI to others for a home inspection. Thank you, Levi! <br />"

FAQs for generator repair projects in Cloudcroft, NM

There is often some confusion about the type of work these professionals do. They only work on electrical systems such as outlets, lighting fixtures and electrical panels – they aren’t appliance repairmen.

There are three types of electricians: Master, Journeyman and Apprentice. Electrical licensing varies quite a bit by state. Some have licenses for apprentices and some do not. Some have a master’s rank while others stop at journeyman. Despite the differences, they all require a minimum amount of experience and usually classroom time.

  • Apprentice electricians aren’t usually licensed and spend 4 years learning the trade. Throughout that time, they work on a wide range of projects to learn to become a Journeyman. They’ll do basic work like installing fixtures and replacing outlets all the way to assisting in wiring a home. Regardless of the type of project, they must always be supervised by a Journeyman or Master electrician.

  • Journeymen work without supervision. In a few states, this is the highest level available and they can do all levels of work from wiring a new home to installing a light. In some states, they need a separate electrical contractor license to run a business. In places with a master’s level, a journeyman can do all work besides design new electrical systems.

  • Master electricians usually manage a shop, design new electrical systems in new construction and oversee both Journeyman and Apprentices. They typically bid new projects. Though they focus on larger projects, it’s not unheard of for a homeowner to request a Master Electrician for a house call. If you do, expect to spend up to 25% more for the visit.

Generally, you don’t tip electricians, but that’s not to say they don’t appreciate it if you do. You can offer them something to drink or eat, like coffee and donuts. Most will appreciate it if you do.

The education and certifications required to become an electrician vary by state, though they generally follow this list:

  1. Apprentice

    • Does not always require a license depending on the state.

    • Learns on the job under Journeyman and Master Electricians.

    • Usually needs 4 years on-the-job training before they can test for a Journeyman license. Many states also require a technical degree to advance.

    • Always require supervision.

  2. Journeyman

    • Needs between 8,000 to 10,000 hours of on-the-job training and usually 500 to 1,000 hours of classroom experience.

    • Can usually supervise apprentices.

    • They can diagnose and repair electrical problems.

  3. Master

    • Achieved after an additional two years (4,000 hours) working as a Journeyman and taking the Master Electrician Exam.

    • Besides diagnosing and repairing electrical systems, they also design them. In most places they run shops and inspect Journeyman and Apprentice work.

    • Not a recognized rank in all states.

  4. Electrical Contractor License is an optional license in some states for a Master Electrician to run a business. Some states have this instead of the Master license.

Electricians make an average of $26 per hour but it ranges with experience and licensing. An apprentice may make about half that while a Master Electrician may hit closer to $40 per hour. This figure represents how much they make; not how much they bill. Their salary is only one component of their costs. They must also figure in overhead, taxes, equipment, insurance and several other expenses.

Leave electrical work to the professionals. Electrical systems are complex and potentially hazardous when not handled and installed correctly. If it were easy, it wouldn’t take 4 years to become a journeyman or 6 years for a master’s license. If you are determined to forge ahead yourself, understand home electrical safety before beginning any project.Even for simple common electrical projects, a licensed pro is best. Not only is it safer, but contractors guarantee and insure their work. Hire a professional to keep your home’s electrical systems functioning properly and safely.
