"The process up to the QA Inspection was excellent. People were friendly and knowledgeable. Austin was excellent at giving honest answers to all our questions. When I asked him one he couldn’t answer he didn’t try to BS his way through, he simply said he didn’t know and then proceeded to make calls until he got an answer. At the Pre-install inspection we were told the install crew would arrive between 8-10. The install crew chief was very surprised to hear that when he arrived at 7. The installation was also excellent. Done and dusted by 4PM. The QA inspection cost you an excellent rating. It was little more than a high pressure sales pitch to replace my aluminum siding with vinyl. I just spent $20K on a new roof and he pressured us to spend another $40K on something that doesn’t need to be replaced. Not cool. I would definitely recommend Power, but with a caveat on the QA inspection."

"Keith Roofing fixed our roof about 3 years ago. We noticed a recent issue and asked them to come out to see if they could find an issue with the roofing. The staff arrived at the designated time, diagnosed and fixed the problem, and was done in less than 30 minutes! The staff explained the issue and why it may have occurred and how they resolved it and even fixed something on our gutter that he noticed. Amazing service and would definitely recommend this company for any roofing needs!"

"Excellent service. Response time for a recent but serious roofing problem that was impressively repaired and resolved on the same day I contacted them. We've hired Chevy Chase Remodeling for various home improvements and repairs on our older home that's aging with expected problems, and CCR continues to provide quality, affordable services with professional and experienced workers. Highly recommend."

"Called 3 different companies and all came out but only 2 gave me quotes back. One being JDH, they were all pretty much priced the same and each company had great reviews but something about these guys really stood out. Jim and Ken first people I spoke with and they were so professional but also made me feel like part of the family. This is a locally owned company and I have always tried to support the local small town business. So happy we went this route. We added a bathroom to our basement, new construction. The bathroom turned out to be absolutely beautiful and is perfect for my Mother who has now moved in and named her new space her mini spa. It is small but mighty with little touches that really shows a master carpenter was in the space. We are all thrilled with the quality of this project. After that my husband and I knew we needed to upgrade our master and guest bath so we asked for project number 2. Our master bathroom was a carpet on the floor dark and dreary nightmare. They turned that eyesore into a retreat! Jim and Ken really listened to what I needed as a client- and I know I'm picky and difficult- but they took everything I threw at them and the rest is history. We have been complimented repeatedly on how good everything looks. Turn around time was quick, quality was out of this world, and the price was worth it all. Can't wait for project number 3! Thank you to everyone at JDH Remodeling that made our dream happen!!! I will definitely recommend to everyone."

"This was the second time we hired ROI Construction LLC to work on our home and they did an excellent job both times. Originally our roof was replaced and ROI did a fantastic job, going above and beyond in making sure every detail was perfect. Recently we had the roof and skylights of an addition replaced. In both instances ROI charged less than the competitors and the workmanship was high grade. I highly recommend this company."

FAQs for heating cable for roof installation projects in Cobb-island, MD

A typical heat cable uses 5 watts per foot, regardless of the outside temperature. So, if your cable is 100 feet long, it uses 500 watts per hour. Expect to pay an additional $40 to $200 or more per month on your electricity bill. Be sure to turn manual cables off in the summer when you don't need them.

To install heat tape on your roof, place it along the lower edge in a precise zig-zag pattern to maximize coverage and heat distribution. Professional installers secure the tape with specialized clips that attach firmly to your shingles. This method ensures even heat distribution to effectively melt ice and snow while maintaining your roof's integrity during severe winter conditions.

Choosing between heated gutters and roof heating cables usually comes down to budget, appearance, and performance. Heated gutters cost less to install and blend seamlessly with your home’s exterior, making them a discreet, lower-cost option for preventing ice dams. Roof heating cables deliver more customizable and powerful heat along roof edges to handle heavy snow and ice, but they require more material and labor, increasing your upfront investment. Evaluate your roof design, winter weather demands, and energy budget to select the system that works best for your property.

Roof heating cables prevent ice dams by melting snow and stopping ice buildup at the roof edge. Ice damming occurs when melting snow refreezes on a cold roof—often right above the gutter line—and blocks water from draining, which can force moisture under shingles into your home. Heating cables maintain a warm channel that clears ice dams as soon as they form and protects your roof from water damage and structural issues.

Roof heating cables last between two and ten years before replacement is needed, wearing out faster than your roof itself. Their lifespan depends on climate severity, cable type, and exposure to physical damage. Consistent inspections and preventative maintenance—such as clearing debris, tightening clips, and checking electrical connections—can extend their service life and ensure reliable snow and ice protection each winter.

To safely remove snow from your roof, start with a specially designed roof rake, standing firmly on the ground and pulling snow downhill rather than climbing onto the roof. You can also apply calcium chloride ice melt to break up stubborn ice or gently use a secured rope from a safe vantage point.

Keep in mind that large snow slabs can weigh hundreds of pounds and pose a serious fall risk. If conditions are hazardous or you lack the right equipment, hire a professional to protect your safety and your roof’s integrity.
