"It didn't go well. The company did not complete the job, they left unfinished work. I contacted the owner several times, he would give me dates and she never followed up. He became very hostile when I addressed my concerns to him. At that point, I decided that I did not want him to continue to work."

"We contracted with Basile Landscaping & Lawncare, LLC (Basile) in August 2017 for work that was completed in November 2017. Work included a fire pit patio, consisting of patio pavers, rock stairs, and two small patio walls (approx. 30” tall at tallest point). Also included in the work was a small hot tub concrete pad, a small flagstone walkway, and irrigation repairs related to work performed. Total cost $22,830.00. Within a year of install, the patio walls, which were made out of natural stone and dry set, began caving in due to pressure from surrounding soil compaction. While we were able to reset the stones initially, the problem has gotten worse and now requires repair. We reached out to Basile in Oct. 2023 to get an estimate on repair costs with the hope that they would stand behind the workmanship. While we were not expecting the repairs to free, we did expect a fair price, since the rock walls did not hold up as promised. The rock walls should have been set in adhesive to ensure they would hold up. Jim Thomas from Basile provided us with a bid that totaled $3,500 to fix the walls installed by his company. We were told the bid reflected a $300 discount, since Basile did the initial install. Materials for the repair would be limited to polymeric sealant, which should have been used on the initial install, and repairs to the yard around the walls requiring work. We tried to negotiate a fair price for the repairs, since material costs would be less than $500, but Mr. Thomas would not negotiate a fair price to fix the poor installation provided by his company. In short, if you are looking for a company that does quality work at a fair price and stands behind the work performed, you may want to contract with a different company."

"I contracted with Green Thumb to level a spot in my yard to install an above ground pool. I have since been warned by multiple experienced landscapers and a landscape architect that their leveling job is not fit for its intended purpose, as it simply cannot be guaranteed to to support the weight of the pool without a retaining wall to support the portion of the yard they built up above grade to achieve level. I am now hiring another company to come in and fix their unprofessional, unskilled work as it is clear after talking to them that they are either not knowledgeable enough to recognize the blatantly obvious issue or they simply do not care. I will pay them because I always keep my end of a deal even if I do not believe they have kept theirs, but my advice to others is to avoid this company at all costs. Update: Originally I left this review on their facebook page. Apparently it must have lowered their overall rating on facebook to a level below the owner's liking because he immediately deleted every other negative review from his facebook page (there were numerous), artificially increasing the rating back up to an insanely deceptive 5 stars. So I decided to post the review to other outlets. I mean wow, you should have seen some of the pictures unhappy customers had posted on his facebook account before he deleted them all! In one particularly memorable photo, Green Thumb had planted a boxwood shrub directly into mulch (no soil) and left it half out of the ground, then when it died they refused to pay to replace it and plant it correctly. Seriously, don't work with this company."

"Will NOT refund money even though requested in proper time. And the money is significant--it is over 4000--yes over four thousand NOT 400 hundred. And I signed a different contract than the one I originally saw--igt was done on an I-PAD... Totally absurd, ridiculous, and criminal. When I called to request my money b/c I had lost a couple jobs in a short period, the guy who originally assisted me (Pretty Nice, Cool Guy--Steve) said the company would NOT refund my money. I requested my money prior to them measuring and ordering material. And the quote to do the bathroom was absolutely ridiculous-- OVER $14,000 to do a bathroom. And I had just done a bathroom--for under 5,000--so I was NOT thinking to originally agree... Craig G--is a snake. He reports will do something (refund money), than when he buys some time (passed the legal time for me) than he switches... TOTALLY NOT WORTH IT!!! I'm NOT DONE. There is a few surprises coming.... BEWARE!!! RUN!!! If I could leave no stars I WOULD!!"

"Scott and his crew were incredible to work with. They arrived on time, were professional every step of the way, and responded quickly post job to fix one minor problem. My wife and I were especially happy with how the jobsite was cleaned at the end of each day. HomeproX is a throwback company who takes care of their customer during and after the job."

FAQs for interlocking pavers for driveways & floors installation projects in Columbia, IL

With proper maintenance, permeable pavement can last for over 20 years. Bi-annual vacuuming prevents clogs from debris and sediment, extends the pavement’s lifespan, and helps you avoid costly driveway repairs. Permeable pavement often has a shorter lifespan in areas with heavy traffic or harsh weather conditions.

Pervious and porous usually refer to pouring asphalt or concrete—which is a single massive object—but with enough small holes to allow for even drainage. This is also sometimes called thirsty concrete. Permeable concrete pavers are precast concrete designed to also allow for drainage. Permeable grass pavers allow grass to grow through them and provide drainage.

Pervious, porous, and permeable pavers are similar because they make it easier for rain or snow to drain or absorb into the ground rather than overload the storm or sewer systems.

The most significant benefit of water-permeable pavement is that it helps precipitation absorb better (and slower) into the ground, which avoids overloading sewers and causing overflows and backups. It also helps recharge the groundwater and prevent agricultural runoff from lawns.

If you’ve ever seen water rushing into a storm drain, permeable pavement prevents that. Instead of water running off a steep driveway, a good amount of it “soaks” directly underneath the pavement.

Topmix permeable concrete costs $8 to $16 per square foot, including all installation costs. However, they give out estimates on a project-by-project basis. However, Tarmac, the company that made the product, no longer produces Topmix.

Ecoraster is a brand that offers many different permeable paving options in North America. Prices vary depending on the product and project. They’ll give estimates for each individual project. While not actual pavers, these grids serve a similar function. Ecoraster grids come in various styles and allow for similar drainage compared to permeable pavers or porous paving.

Permeable driveways may cost slightly more than a traditional paving type, but they reduce or eliminate the need to install any other type of drainage system. Drainage systems cost $2,000 to $6,500 to install. They also reduce stormwater runoff, sewer overflows, and help eliminate urban agriculture runoff, which can pollute waterways.
