"The crews arrived first thing in the morning as the boss said they would. They immediately started work and were finished roofing the house in less than four hours. The repair to the covered porch took a little longer. It was amazing how fast they replaced the rafters and the ceiling including the roofing. I am so pleased with the job that they did. The price for the job was, in my opinion, unbelievable. If you need your roof repaired or the shingles replaced, call this outfit. You won't regret it."

"The process was very Professional. Greg came out and evaluated my old shingles roof and gave me a price to install a new metal roof. He was very informative concerning my change over from a shingles roof to a metal roof. Greg explained the step by step installation process and the warranty that was included. After an agreement was confirmed, I was always notified with everything from the material drop off date and time to the actual installation date and any delays.. Will definitely use Southern Signature Solutions in the future for other Home Projects!! Wonderful Customer Service! Thank You Mr. Greg Carter And Crew!! MY NEW ROOF LOOKS GREAT!!"

"I sent them a message through Angie's List on a Tuesday night, had a response from them before I woke up the next morning. They met with me at lunch on Wednesday, got to work on Thursday morning and the work was completed by the time my tenant got home that evening. <br> <br>The sun room/patio area of this house I inherited, and am renting to a friend, is effectively flat. It was roofed with normal roofing materials/techniques and was leaking...probably since it was installed, but I was not made aware of the problem. <br> <br>The men who came out initially identified the problem with the old installation instantly and, without hesitation, informed me that it wasn't going to be a cheap repair. I respect this very much. I'd much rather have a contractor be up front about the cost of a repair rather than lure me in with a low-ball estimate and then triple the bill once the job is complete. The price they charged was almost precisely the amount they gave me in their initial, quick on-site review of the situation. <br> <br>Their men showed up first thing the next morning, stripping the old roof material off, replacing the damaged decking that had been ruined by the leak, and installed the proper materials for this kind of nearly-flat roof. They even had a crew that finished another job in the area early in the day, and had them go over to help get the job completed faster, without charging me extra for the extra laborers. <br> <br>Everything was very prompt and professional, and my tenants are very happy that their sun room is fixed. The cost was high considering the area of roof repaired, but if you want great service and professional work you pay for it, and I have no problem paying well for this kind of service. <br> <br>I will definitely be calling on these guys for any other roofing work I need done, and will be recommending them to my customers should they ask about quality roofers. <br>"

"On behalf of my 89-year-old mother, I recently commissioned L. E. Schwartz and Son, Inc. to re-roof her home built in the 1950’s. This project was a daunting mission for me, inasmuch as the Home Improvement Industry in today’s environment is fraught with unscrupulous contractors. It is refreshing to recognize and appreciate the following Schwartz traits: • Schwartz exudes professionalism and accountability. • Phone calls and email messages are answered in an expeditious manner. • Roof was installed in accordance with the predetermined schedule! • Quality of the roof is SUPERIOR. • Financing was facilitated with well-informed counseling. I wholeheartedly endorse L. E. Schwartz and Son, Inc. as a Home Improvement Roofing Contractor. GODSPEED! Brenda M. Gibson"

"They were all really nice. I would tell others that they did pretty good service. It was needed at my house. Four or five people came to do it. It took about a week. They left the area very clean. They gave me the Angie’s List discount price. From what I can tell, they did more than anybody else. Everybody else was just going to dig a ditch in the front part of the house. B-Dry went all the around my house, so I got a better quality of work from them."

"<strong>About 8 years ago</strong> we needed the roof replaced on an older house that we had purchased. After getting some recommendations we went with Danny. Responded quickly, gave a fair estimate, scheduled the date. Here's what surprised me - I came home in the evening of the scheduled date and saw no debris container in the driveway. I was like "Oh Great, the guy didn't show". Then I looked up at the roof and was completely new. Crazy. Talked to my stay-at-home neighbor and she said "Yeah, they had like 12 guys up there, took them a few hours" . Again, Crazy. Really good job, only complaint was that there were A LOT of spilled nails in the yard that I had to clean up.  <br /> <strong>Round 2</strong> - Fast forward to Early November of 2015 - lots of rain - could see a stain in the ceiling of the sunroom. Not overly concerning, but needing attention. Sent a couple of guys out, couldn't figure it out. Rains that night, bigger stain. Took another 3 or 4 day of me pestering him before the next rain to get them to respond again. The same guys came out, seemingly figured it out and after they had left, Danny himself came by to check on it, no charge of course. So far, so good. <br /> So, to sum up - <br /> <strong>Initial service</strong> - Prompt, well done, fairly priced (see above clean up caveat)  <br /> <strong>Follow Up Service</strong> - A little slow, not particularly efficient, but no charge... <br />"

"The car port is so beautiful that people think, nobody has any idea it was added on.  Because they, we had a new roof put on about a year before they where able to get the same roofing and so it looks like it's always been there. I mean, there is no better complement than that. It does not look added on. We've had people who have come and we've had visitors who say your house is complete now. They're work was just wonderful. The only thing I could say, I don't know if I will be able to make you understand without being able to see it but  how would I put this? We wish that we had been a little bit clearer in what we specified because we thought we were getting, having the car port go all the way to the end, to cover the fence and they stopped it about 5 feet before that. And so, We wanted to be able to come from the house to get under the car port to either one of our cars, it's a double car port and you can only, the only covered area was about a 4 foot square area. When they where working on it I was watching and I went out there and I said, "Wait a minute, isn't this supposed to come all the way out to cover this end of the car port?" They said, "No that not the original plan" and I said "yes it was".  When I was discussing that with them they said, "Oh to do that at this point you would have to pay an extra $4,000.00". We said, No, no where not doing that cause we thought we had made it clear to you.". The problem was there were no drawings, no diagram it was just kind of a word of mouth thing, like this is what we want and they understood it you know. And so, my recommendation in the future and with any other work I have done is I want to see a diagram, I want them to repeat to me exactly what they think I want, if that makes any sense. We told them that this was the only thing that kind of left a bad taste in our mouth because the work they did is just beautiful. And, you know, but there's always that one little thing that your unhappy about. I didn't want to pay the extra money because I felt like we had paid enough, you know. We got about 3 estimates and they were probably in the mid point, I know construction is expensive. That was a lot of money to us. They were good. They just didn't communicate on that one aspect. I would have a hard time calling them again. It seems kind of contradictory because the work they did was beautiful but we just weren't happy, you know, 100% happy with them not adding that extra. It would have been a 20 x 5 foot section and that would have been the part of the carport they didn't add. We really enjoyed working with them except for that 1 thing. And we told them when they came out at the end, we said, "We really love the work but every time we look at this end of the carport we're not happy because we were sure we had communicated that to you.". You know we're all standing out in the yard looking at the house and saying this is what we want and I'm thinking they knew exactly what I want and what I was saying and they didn't. I hate that, I hate that we had to have that one little black mark, you know."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Columbus, GA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
