"Poor installation quality, lack of follow up for warranty coverage. They sub out to local contracts with apparently no quality controls. Gunner put on a new roof, new siding, new front doors, and new gutters. Not one of those was done to complete satisfaction. They covered my dryer vent with Hardie board which could have caused a fire if I didn't smell the burning smell while I was doing laundry. My front 2 doors came in the wrong size after 8 weeks and they had to reorder which took another 8 weeks. Finally, the doors were installed improperly: surrounding trim too short, covered a gap under the step with flashing, and didn't align the doors properly. The flat roof part had to be redone 3 times and it still wasn't properly installed. The property manager at the time, who has since left, was very nice and gave me $1500 credit. I had 2 other roofers out since to look at the problem and both said the flashing was installed improperly and they have to pull off boards etc and this will co"

"We had a very good experience with J.D. Ferro roofing. Franco has apparently recently taken over the company and I found him to be extremely professional and someone who cares very much about doing a good and complete job the first time. It is clear that he takes great pride in his work, and I found the work to be top-notch. Our old rubber roof had started to leak into our bedroom. Franco and I went out on the roof and identified the problem areas, and the errors in the original installation. His communication was excellent, describing exactly what needed to be done on the new roof and how they were going to avoid recreating the same errors. Their work came in at the quoted cost, even though the cost of some of the materials had risen during our wait for the job. It has been nearly a year since the work was done and the roof is holding up very well and we haven't had to ask him to come back for anything. We have two more sections of roof that will need replacement in the coming year"

Stuck with a house of expensive windows half of which are defective but cannot be fixed because "manufacturer is not doing painted windows at this time" or the past couple years apparently. Have a large picture window separating and flexing due to poor installation. Was also supposed to he fixed and never was. The son has been rude about it since the beginning and almost annoyed that we would bring up the constant issues. Workers were rude, smoking, messy and only worsened as we would request them kindly to clean up after themselves so my family was not stepping on shards of wood, nails and debris left in excess. Windows are very hard to latch. They look nice but who cares if it doesn't function properly and can't be fixed. After responding to another clients review with my experience, i was softly threatened to keep my experience to myself and to handle through him. I tried this but it got me nowhere. Windows have been our biggest home investment yet and feel that others should be warned so they don't have the same poor experience and left with brand new windows that function like theyre ready to be replaced already. Make a better choice than we did so you can be happy."

"I recommend making sure you know who Putnam Handyman is sending to your house & call references, even if you are a repeat customer. Here is why….. I had an in-wall air conditioning unit installed by PH in June 2022. Overall, this installation was cut & dry with a few fixes along the way. The experience was fantastic so I called on them again in May 2023 to replace another in-wall AC unit that was leaking. This installation was not as cut & dry but absolutely doable. It became clear quickly that the lead technician was not happy with the job. I explained that I understood it was different than the job in 2022 and the AC & sleeve I purchased met the specs I was given so I was not being unrealistic. It ended up taking about 1½ days & I was completely fine with paying more for the extra work but the installation was flawed. I sent an email with pics detailing the flaws; foam sealant used on outside looked terrible, trim around the unit was not set correctly and there was a gap under the unit that needed to be sealed. I also requested they send the team they sent in 2022 to fix the problems. PH called me to discuss the email. I agreed to having the team who installed it come back & we agreed on a fair price for the installation. When they came back to fix their work, the same complaints were lobbied. Again, I explained that I understood, I got the materials according to the specs they provided, etc. Now here we are in 2025 and the poor installation has created damage. The technician installed the AC too close to the electric baseboard heater and since this was a colder winter compared to the year before, the bottom trim has warped quite significantly. I didn’t discover the damage until a few weeks ago because I cover front of my ACs when the weather cools. I emailed PH with pics but since their warranty expired, I would need to pay to have it fixed. While I respect the timing of the warranty, I am still disappointed that Putnam Handyman isn’t willing to fix a job that was obviously done incorrectly by their technician. So, here I am taking this story to internet to warn others."

"Everything went very well from the first call to completion. Estimator was very responsive, professional and helpful. Project manager and foreman were very good also. The men who did the work were professional, considerate of our home, polite and did a great job and great cleanup. We have an estimate for vinyl fencing installation and will use United Construction again for that, in the spring."
