"We reached out to four roofing companies to quote our re-roofing project. We compared them on professionalism, quote thoroughness, feeling of trust and integrity with the salesperson, and knowledge. Westshore ranked highest hands down. They were not the cheapest, nor were they the highest bid, but they were the best. We felt so comfortable with Ben, and rather than try to upsell us as others did, he helped us figure out ways we could get the job done within our budget. The quote offered several options which was quite helpful in our choices. During our decision period, we had several questions and he responded immediately every time. When it came time for the work, the crew was always on time and professional. They cleaned up and you could barely tell they were even here at the end of the day. We were glad to see that the crew was able to take several water breaks (in nearly 100-degree heat) and time off for lunch and they still finished the job ahead of schedule. It showed us that Westshore takes care of their crews. We highly recommend Westshore Roofing."

"Although the roof appeared to be in good condition, I decided to have it replaced as it was over 30 years old. In late September of 2018, I met with Shadowfax roofing estimator John. John was very knowledgeable and understood the issues with the high pitch of the roof. He provided two quotes. The first quote was for the basic Owens Corning Tru Definition shingles ($9,980) and the second was for Duration Premium shingles ($10,580). I opted for the higher quality shingles. Since the gutters were going to be replaced, I requested the wood that extended beyond the roofline be cut in order for the gutters to extend to the end. John explained it would not be a problem, however, any dry rot would need to be removed and replaced with new wood. Additionally, I had requested a vent be added for the bathroom as it was venting into attic instead of through the roof. John also indicated everything could be completed in about 3-4 days. However, it would be about three months before the job wold get done. Since there was no hurry, I agreed. In early November, I received a call from their scheduler, Pam stating the job would start on November 13th. I explained I would be leaving town on November 16th. She stated the job would be pretty much finished by then. Unfortunately, there were some delays. On the first day, the workers did not show up until late in the afternoon to remove the roof. On the second day, work stopped to due to the dry rot issue. Although, I had explained to the foreman on the first day of what I had wanted done specifically, replace any rot and cut all the overhangs, work stopped until I gave the okay to do the repairs. Fortunately, the dry rot was minimal, however, it caused a delay as there was only one person doing the job and he had left for the day. The foreman explained the previous job had some issues, which required their attention. On Friday, the crew for the gutters arrived early in the morning, however, they couldn't do the gutters as the overhangs still needed to be cut. So, crew returned later in the afternoon. Since I was unable to be present when the job was completed, my family supervised. I was informed the work was not completed until Sunday. When I returned home, I noticed the vent I had requested be added was not done. I contacted Pam and she stated it would get done. A few days later it rained. I have had no problems with the roof. Although there was a lack of communication in the beginning and delays, the job was done well. I would hire them again. However, I have learned my lesson that roof replacements should be done in spring or summer."

"Because of the rains they needed to come up several times to lay materials to protect the roof. They were always timely and courteous during this process and when they put the new roof on. They did a beautiful job with the new roof, were in and out in a short time, and left the property very clean. In short, they were a wonderful Co. to do business with and the new roof is beautiful. I would recommend them unconditionally in the future."

"Alex and his crew were able to schedule our roof replacement around all the rain storms and got it done on time. Everyone was very polite and easy to communicate with. Cleaned up every day so there wasn't a big mess. Worked without any loud music or shouting which is good for me since I work from home. I think the price was fair. They also coordinated with our solar installer to make sure everything got done right."

"The work above was completed on time for the amount estimated.  Just one rain period of one-half inch spread over six hours has fallen on the repaired roof.  That may not be sufficient for a true test of repairs.  An extended rainfall over a longer period would be more of a test perhaps but that is not  in the weather forecast right now.  Contact me in 2015 for an update. <br /> It took months to receive the Scudder invoice after the work was completed.  No problem for us but maybe for other customers. <br />"

"Peterson Dean replaced the roof on my house. The estimator was professional and friendly. I was not present during the work. When I went up on the roof later, I was impressed. It looked beautiful, and my skylights were well protected from water runoff, which is what I requested. I'd recommend them, and I'd use them again. <br />"

"My wife and I initially used Tri-City Roofing to repair a leak during the rainy season earlier this year, and they also gave us a quote to get the roof replaced. Several months later, when we had our finances in order for a complete roof replacement, this firm offered to replace it at the same price they had quoted earlier. The job included tearing off three layers of old shingles and replacing them with asphalt-type shingles on an 1116 sq. ft. 1960's ranch style home in Dublin. Also included were custom cut, painted and installed gutters. Tri-City was accessible and responsive throughout the entire process. There was a relatively small adder (~$900) to repair the area under the leak mentioned earlier, which had been inaccessible absent a complete roof overhaul."

"Overall, I was pleased with the service provided and the quality of work. After the re-roofing was completed, we did have a leak near one of our skylights, which we didn't have before the re-roofing. However, Steve was quick to respond to this problem. He explained what caused the problem and implemented a fix. This problem and another minor problem prevented me from giving an and quot;excellentand quot; rating. <br /> Steve was very good at answering our questions prior to winning the contract with us. He was patient and professional. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"The job was completed and looks amazing. RE Roofing had to coordinate with several other contractors since I decided to use my re-roofing job to upgrade my air ducts, removee old asbestos, clean our my attic and install insullation as well.  RE Roofing pulled my old shingles off and then came back in three days to install my new roof.  The three days left time for my attic cleaning contractor to do their work.  Miles even helped me figure out the order in which to do all of this work. <br /> The team used was professional, cleaned up each day. left minimal debris - there's always something left no matter how hard they try. The office pulled the permit and managed all inspections. They delivered the final signed off permit at time of final payment. <br /> I would definitely use RE Roofing again! <br />"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Coyote, CA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
