"Friday 12/06/13 I called Abbey Road Chimney Sweep Company and spoke with Irma who set my appointment for Monday between noon and 5:pm. I told my neighbor we were going to get our chimney checked and she wanted hers done so first thing Monday morning I called Irma to see if Doug could do us both and he could. Irma set our appointments for 2:pm (firm) and Doug was right on time. Together we looked over my fireplace and I pointed out all the things I saw wrong and told him we needed a hat on the chimney roof. We agreed on an estimate of $450.00 less a $10.00 discount for my Angie's List coupon that I presented before he started his work. <br /> Doug's appearance and manner are highly professional. He explained everything as he went and answered every question I asked patiently and pleasantly. He had me look inside the chimney to see the damper and explained the rust spots were due to our not having had a cap on top of the chimney to keep the rain water out. He told me a new damper could run as much as $850.00 but assured me ours was still OK and not a safety hazard. He was clean with his work and once he finished you would have never known he had been there. <br /> This is the first time our chimney has been serviced and I completely forgot to ask about dryer vent cleaning! We like the fact that they use "ladder standoffs" so the extension ladders do not rest on the gutters, they rest on the roof.
