"I got three quotes from recommended and well-established foundation reconstruction firms. They all did an onsite assessment and submitted proposals. I hired a civil engineer to evaluate those proposals for me, after he also inspected my home himself. He recommended Shay Aboav and Doheny concrete Construction above the others, and he also interviewed Mr. Aboav to doublecheck on details of the proposal. DOHENY'S PROPOSAL WAS SUBSTANTIALLY LESS MONEY THAN THE OTHER TWO. The work was completed on schedule, documented fully, and executed very nicely. It seemed quite complex to me. Cleanup was prompt and thorough. Customer service, outstanding."

"I am very pleased with the back-yard patio Conrad and his crew installed. Cost was very competitive. Timeline for project was very close to original estimate. Conrad was very helpful in helping us make final design decisions, especially on picking the paver block style and color. He also promptly addressed all of me concerns, even though they were mostly minor. His crew also worked with me to get the final outline of the patio, with many curves. Del Mar Landscaping is definitely on the top of my list for any future landscaping work."

Customers say: Quality work

"I was very impressed that our project stayed on schedule, even with ALL the rain, add-ons and a last-minute drainage hiccup. Right from the get-go, Mike had a good eye and a strong vision for our outdoor project. I was 100% convinced on getting pavers but Mike sold us on concrete and I'm glad he did. He was very persistent with following up after we received our bid and was great about answering the 100 questions I had...on top of my husband's (this was our first time doing concrete). He is very responsive (before/during/after), great to work with and a good conversationalist...which I appreciate when I'm working with someone. Apparently, concrete doesn't always turn out "perfect" but we are really happy with the finished product."

"We wanted to improve the patio in our front yard and had a specific idea of what we wanted to do. We had worked with Juan on a previous project where he took our idea and made it a reality we still enjoy everyday. They executed the patio design perfectly, adding their ideas and nice touches along the way, improving it beyond my initial plan. Our friends and family really love the improvements. We are very happy, too."

FAQs for concrete foundation installation projects in Culver City, CA

A concrete footer is a relatively shallow column of concrete that sits below your foundation walls. Footers spread wider than the foundation, so they can support a higher amount of weight in critical spots, such as below walls. The exact dimensions of footers depend on the home, so larger structures need a larger footing.

To calculate footing size, you need to know the minimum width and depth for houses in your region. Multiplying the width by the linear footprint of the structure will give you the size in linear feet.

To convert linear feet into square feet, you can divide the width by 12. For example, an 18-inch footer is 1.5 square feet per linear foot. Multiply this number by the total in linear feet to get the answer in square feet.

Installing a pier and beam foundation costs $5 per square foot, or $8,000 to $15,000. This style is standard in homes built before the 1960s or those in flood-prone areas.

Concrete weight support ranges from 1,500 to 6,500 pounds per square inch, and footings need at least 3,500 to 4,500 pounds per square inch. Remember that your soil type, climate, and materials used will significantly affect how much weight your footings can hold, especially in certain areas.

It costs between $1,600 and $3,200 to pour a 20-by-20-foot concrete slab. These estimates are based on an average cost to pour a concrete slab of $4 to $8 per square foot. Be sure to discuss the specifics with a pro—they’ll give you an estimate of how much you can expect.

The cost to raise a house is between $3,200 and $10,000. This range refers to a form of repair that involves lifting the entire house to potentially remove the old foundation and build a new one or add to an existing one.
