"TLDR: slow, expensive, poor workmanship. I am giving them a 2 instead of 1 star just because I like Alan and his crewmen as human beings. I dont think they are necessarily trying to screw people, more just incompetent. I signed up for a time and materials contract with them because my building plan (post frame) was complex and was sure to present some unexpected challenges. $35k later I asked Alan to give me a bid to finish the project because he claimed we were 70-80% done and I was tired of watching it move slower and slower while costs mounted. He came back with a bid of and additional $54k to finish putting the roof on the place. I think this was more of a screw you I am not interested in your project anymore bid than an honest assessment of project costs. I found another honest hard working crew and they finished it for about $15k. It probably would have been even less but they had to spend a day or two fixing stuff that the Masterfield crew had messed up, mostly stuff that was far enough out of level / plumb / square that it prevented moving forward until it was corrected. Another annoying thing was that when Masterfield left, then not only took all the materials I had paid for through them on the and contract (like nails, house wrap, etc.) but the also took all my roof truss hangers and hardware, which was stuff they did not even purchase. I had to pester them for a week to bring me back my roof hardware but they kept everything else. They also mistakenly took my wheelbarrow and left their own, and they left a pile of scaffolding structural pieces that are still in my yard even after I told them multiple times that they forgot these and where to find them. Overall, I wish I dismissed Masterfield sooner but the silver lining is that I found a solid crew to work with on future projects."

"Overall, the worst company I have ever used. A&J were unable to make simple repairs. Ever job attempted had to be redone two or three times and some are still in need of repair. Roof on Storage shed stills leaks where they made repairs, new gutter still leak at connects after (3) attempts to repair. The drywall in garage in incomplete, left areas with no taping compound on sheet rock. They left section of drywall without screws in it, plus there are screw heads sticking out, loose drywall tape on joints. Worst drywall job I have ever seen. They even ran a screw into the wiring of the garage door controls. Had to call out a repairman to fix garage door. Company would show up around 10 in the morning work about 4 hours then leave. Toward the end of job would not return to complete. I call and was told they would return and complete but they didn't. They no longer respond to messages or return call. Company left their mess in the garage for me to clean up. There is taping compound all over the floor and sawdust and dust on all items in garage. I would not ever use this company again, even if they said they would do the job for FREE ! ! ! I do have pictures of the drywall job if you would like to see them. These pictures will also be posted on Reno's Craiglist and Facebook with the name and location of the company that did the job."
