"Baron Biedenweg of Archadeck gave me a quote to fix a deck that lost support in one corner due to the original poor mounting to a concrete slab. He had a good understanding of the problem and provided various options to fix it and enhance the deck appearance. His details were better than we had received from other bidders. We decided to repair the concrete mounting
and redo the complete deck and use the existing structure. We ran into many issues using our existing structure,
such as the angles used were not standard as well as some other anomalies. This resulted in some redoes of part of the deck and stairs. Baron took care of all the anomalies that were a result of using the previous structure. Baron and his
crew were very responsive to every issue and took wherever action to make the deck conform to the structure and look good. He sent emails to keep me informed of scheduling needed to correct any issues. I am very pleased with the overall results. The aluminum railing was one of his options we selected and it was a very nice enhancement to our previous wooden railing. I think Baron?s costs were higher than estimated due to working with our existing non-standard structure, but he completed the job as bid. Overall Baron and his crew were very professional and responsive. I would recommend them for any type of deck work. Baron was very patient in responding to any concern or change I had. It has been a pleasure working with Baron and his crew and we would not hesitate in using them on other projects. We are very satisfied with the quality and look of the finished deck.
George Lewis
Fort Wayne, IN

"

"This was our first experience with this type and size of project and after consulting with several references on his list we decided to move forward with a contract. We should have had an inclination from the beginning when his contract left out several specific details regarding the project. In fact we submitted and requested an acknowledgement of amendments to the original contract which was never signed but verbally acknowledged. The project began in late Fall/Early winter and continued through the Spring with several delays on the contractors part "due to incliminate weather" although his snow plowing business was in full swing. We had justifiable concernes with a subcontractor he had hired and when brought to the contractors attention he defended the sub rather than attempting to come to resolution with us. Ultimately we fired his sub and had to hire our own subcontractor for HVAC work. Unfortunately much of the errors in the original HVAC sub could not be corrected without substantial cost because the work had already been closed up with drywall. Several other incidents of poor craftmanship arose that had we not been on site daily would have gone unnoticed for example insulation. The sub contractor for insulation arrived and the lead foreman on our porject didnt bother to verify what they were installing in the walls was the incorrect R factor. It was noted and brought to their attention by us and confirmed the wrong material was being installed which was later removed and correct insulation installed. In addition the finish work both exterior and interior was horrible. Supposedly the contractor had a family member who was excellent at trim work. the work was shoddy and often times the corners did not meet and the wood filler placed in the gaps was raised wiped off on other walls and woodwork requiring extensive sanding and reapplication. the exterior trim leaves much to be desired along with vinyl siding starter strips and j channel which are coming loose and uneveen. Overall we should have went with a contractor who specializes in remodels and cared about craftmanship. This was too large of a project for this contractor.
"

"Not only the owner of Cornerstone is named Tim, but also the friendly and helpful young landscape architect who worked closely with me and developed all the plans. Tim the landscape architect was readily available and easy to work with; he took my very basic ideas and worked up beautiful computer-generated options and photos for landscaping and shrubs adjoining the patio, options I found really helpful, attractive and reasonably affordable. When the patio was installed by Cornerstone's crew, Tim the landscape architect was on-site for practically the whole project. Since the patio was installed adjoining a backyard slope, given the inclination necessary for proper drainage, afterwards I thought the effect looked a little odd, like the patio was sliding down the hill (an optical effect only). When I contacted Cornerstone with my aesthetic concerns, Tim the owner and Tim the landscape architect came out to confer with me. They checked the patio installation and found it as was necessary for proper drainage and alignment with surrounding sidewalks. But Tim the owner insisted he wanted me to be happy with Cornerstone's project, and, at no cost, would make alterations to make me happy. They'd even tear up the patio and put it in differently with all new pavers, a drastic course of action I surely didn't want. Instead, I chose a different option Cornerstone offered--building up part of the backyard with lots more dirt and seeded grass, and building an additional flowerbed, shrubs and metal edging around another edge of the patio, so it is contained and would seem to be nestling in a mini-garden. This all was done by Cornerstone a month or so after the original patio was laid. Now it's Spring, and I can see the results are outstanding! The patio looks great. And nestled. And I can sit on the patio surrounded on three sides by beautiful flowering shrubs. Cornerstone told me they wanted me to be happy with their work--and I am really happy! I highly recommend Cornerstone Landscaping.
"

FAQs for interlocking pavers for patios, walks & steps installation projects in Decatur, IN

To calculate your paver needs:

 • Determine how many pavers cover a square foot.

 • Determine how many square feet you need.

 • Add an additional 10% to 20% for breakage and waste.

 • Consider your pavers’ sizes.

Or, you can hire a local pro who you know will get the right measurements the first time. This way, you get your weekend back instead of spending it measuring square footage.

A pallet of pavers costs $300 to $700 on average, and each pallet covers 56 square feet. The exact price depends on the type, size, and quantity of pavers you choose. Buying in bulk can sometimes offer additional savings, especially for larger projects. Ask your pro how you can save on material costs.

To get the best prices on pavers:

 • Hire a professional landscaper: Pros often receive discounts on materials, which can make hiring them more cost-effective overall.

 • Shop at local building supply stores: Check for overstock or bulk purchase deals. Bulk purchasing can be more costly up front but save you money in the long run.

 • Buy directly from manufacturers: Purchasing from a local brickyard or paver factory can offer competitive prices, especially for large quantities.

The main difference between driveway pavers and patio pavers is their load-bearing capacity. Driveway pavers are designed to withstand the weight of vehicles, whereas patio pavers aren’t suitable for such heavy loads. You can use driveway pavers for a patio, but using patio pavers for a driveway could lead to damage. Always check the weight limits of pavers and consult with a professional installer to choose the right type for your project.

Paver patios cost more than concrete patios because the materials and installation methods require advanced techniques and skilled labor. They deliver enhanced aesthetic appeal and allow for easier small‑scale repairs without affecting property taxes. The higher expense arises from premium paver materials and intricate installation processes that deliver long‑lasting durability and design flexibility. This robust solution provides notable benefits over concrete alternatives, making it a valuable investment for homeowners.
