"The tenants in my condo emailed me Sunday night on July 4th weekend to say that both sides of the kitchen sink had filled with black gunk after they tried to use the garbage disposal. The water / black gunk was stagnant in the sink, and the disposal didn't seem to be working.
I called multiple plumbers and most were booked up for 2-3 days because it was right after a holiday weekend. In that round of calls, I had left a message for Charlie, and he called back within the hour. He said he was booked all day but would see if he could get to the condo at the end of the day or first thing the following day.
He also happened to mention that he worked until 6 pm.  When my tenants contacted me at about 6:30 pm to say they hadn't heard from Charlie, I guessed that some jobs had run over and the day got hectic and he just couldn't get to our job. But then 5 minutes later, he actually called to say he on his way. I was impressed by that because he went out of his way to help us and worked at least two hours longer than he had planned to. That's good customer service -- and the sign of someone with a strong work ethic.
Within an hour or two, he had the sink unclogged and restored to normal -- no need to replace the garbage disposal or anything else. He called me when it was all done to explain everything, and he offered to email me an invoice. I didn't have to provide a credit card over the phone, which would have been fine but an invoice is nice, too, because I can pay it with my other bills. He even called after he send the invoice to make sure I received it.
Overall, I was impressed by his work ethic and his overall attitude. He was professional on the phone but very nice and cordial. I had called another plumbing company, and they were polite and professional but came off as a little too corporate -- almost a little cold. Charlie was the complete opposite."

He allayed my concerns about the leak affecting my carpet and made sure that I understood everything he was doing; he showed me exactly how to avoid frozen pipes and leaks into the house in the future. "Mattco has been performing repairs and regular plumbing maintenance at my 116 year old Chicago 2-flat for many years. Over time with experience I have gained trust in Mattco Plumbing to get me out of big jams with the plumbing in this old building. Just recently Matt repaired the 2nd floor toilet drain line in the ceiling above my 1st floor bathroom in a very tight spot. "After buying a water heater at Menards and getting it home, I called Plumb-it Inc about 1:30 p.m on a Monday. I think it was Scott who answered (no recorder!) and he said he could have 2 guys out to our house within 45 minutes to install it. The job went so smooth. They did arrive within 45 minutes. The 2 guys were very knowledgeable about installing a heater. They were efficient, quiet, polite and cleaned up afterwards. They also took the old heater and the box the new heater came in. What more could we ask for? They did everything we expected."

"Did a fine job. Very responsive and could have had someone out the same day. Our project was no emergency, so they came the next day. Arrived during the specified 2 hour time window. Took about 3 hours to remove the broken spigot, go to buy a new one and install. Also recommended an upgrade of a water shut off valve that will be a nice addition to prevent future freezing. Only downside is that the overall price was a little high. Upfront by the job pricing is nice if things get complicated, but you end up paying a little more than you should for simple jobs especially when they have to cover costs of getting leads through Angi. Overall, very happy with their work. The guys were friendly and helped me understand a little about how the work was being completed."
