Small jobs welcome

"I am very happy with the work done by Cannon General Contracting. They showed up when they said they would, did excellent work and kept us informed throughout the project. Everything was completed on time and with great care. It’s hard to find contractors you can truly trust and Scott and his team are definitely one of them! I highly recommend them."

"Outstanding work!  I plan to hire them again for my next project.  The owner, Rick responded promptly to my call and was very professional and efficient. He provided a detailed list of what was to be included in the job.  The crew of five men arrived on time, moved furniture out of the way, prepped the area carefully and cleaned up completely at the end of each day.
Although it wasn't included in the contract, the crew did some additional touch up painting of some doors & baseboards"since we already have the trim paint open."  I had also asked if I could use their ladder to clean and change lightbulbs in the hard to reach chandelier;  I came home and found that they did it for me.  I expected that with the additional work done that they might add on to the bill, but they didn't.  Instead I was more than happy to give the crew a good tip.
Very pleased with the end result as well as the 3 days of having this professional team in our home.

Trevor made this process very easy for me and I’m delighted with the results and the installation was top notch! Trevor has a great eye for detail, design and implementation. "It went great. We have remodeled three houses and always had bad experiences whenever we used a contractor. Kenny, owner of KTD Construction, is hands down the best contractor. His pricing is fair and often less than other competitors. He is always in contact with you throughout the project, which is rare. He is an exquisite carpenter and framer and his crew are all courteous and professional. He is a fast worker, gets the job done right and even hauls all project debris and cleans up after with great attention to customer satisfaction. Our neighbors even commented that it’s hard to find a good contractor and one that works weekends no less. Kenny will also help find sub contractors for plumbing, electrical, drywall, and if they don’t follow through Kenny will see to it that the job gets done on time and to the highest standards. If you are lucky enough to have Kenny on your job you will be a happy homeowner just like us."

"Working for a company that I travel as a Superintendent. Most of the time it's hit or miss. Hartman construction hit it outta the park for us. Levi's framing and over all construction knowledge made my life easy. Super Professional and completed my project on time. If you ever are in Northern California I'd recommend this company. 10 outta 10. Thank you Levi and crew"

"Spectrum One was the best choice I made! I had damage done to my home from a falling tree so I had an insurance claim. Spectrum One assigned me a public adjuster that dealt with my insurance company on my behalf, which in itself is a blessing! Their quality of work was outstanding! I had also made a few changes in the repair process and their team made sure I had change orders and knew EXACTLY what I was paying for the changes I was making and had an updated contract to me within 24 hours. The crew and staff were all very professional and friendly, I was actually sad to have my job ending! Paul (the owner), was especially pleasant to work with! He made sure I knew where we were at and any changes to the schedule since I had left out of town for 10 days. I have a few more additional projects that I will be needing services on in the very near future and I cannot wait to hire them back again! Thank you Spectrum One for your outstanding services! Hope to see you soon!"

"After inspecting the building, the contractor agreed to do the necessary work at a fixed labor cost plus materials costs not to exceed $1,000. He generally arrived for work fairly late in the morning, sometimes closer to noon, and was still on site after dark (nearly 10:00pm on one occasion). He works slowly and carefully. Unfortunately, there were occasional misunderstandings regarding our expectations, and it seemed to take an inordinately long time to complete the work."

FAQs for wood stairs and railings repair projects in Dobbins, CA

Hiring a pro to refinish wooden stairs means labor makes up 20% to 30% of your total budget. That price covers sanding, staining, and sealing each step. In most cases, a certified refinisher can tackle a 10-step staircase in about two hours, then apply stain and sealant for a durable, eye-catching finish that stands up to daily traffic.

A pro can sand a standard 10-step staircase in roughly two hours, then needs another four to six hours for each coat of stain and sealant to dry. DIYers should budget up to a week for sanding, staining, and sealing in stages. With a crew on site, the bulk of the work is completed in a single day, minimizing disruptions while still achieving a high-quality finish.

It’s possible to refinish stairs without full-scale sanding by using chemical strippers, power buffers, or simply layering a fresh finish over the existing coat. Chemical strippers break down old stains and sealants, while buffers quickly shave off surface material. Even so, a quick hand-sand with fine-grit paper helps the new finish bond properly and look smooth. As always, suit up in protective gear and follow product directions to keep your wood—and yourself—safe.

For most stair projects, you’ll want two sandpaper grits. Begin with 80- to 120-grit to strip the old finish and even out rough spots, then move to 150- to 220-grit for a smooth, ready-for-stain surface. A power sander speeds up the coarse pass, but switches to hand sanding with the fine grit in corners and along edges to keep abrasion even and give stain or sealer something to grab onto.
