"STL Residential Roofing was on job at 8:00 am. They had tarps around the entire circumference of our home. The supervisor introduced himself in case I had questions. They completed by late afternoon. That evening you couldn’t tell they had been there. The cleanup was thorough. Outstanding"

"Bone Dry Roofing just finished our new roof and it has been one of the best decisions I made. Not just getting the new roof but having Bone Dry Roofing install it for us. My first experience with them was when their manager Curtis came to our house and inspected the roof for hours, not knowing if we will give them the contract or not. This just shows they really care about the customer needs and painstakingly try to identify any issues. Their crew was also very polite and cordial and worked non-stop. At every step of the roofing process, they shared pictures to show the updates. At the end of the job, the local head Ron, himself, came to inspect the roof. And this again shows that the whole company seems to be behind their work. They were also kind to provide the best warranty for the work. I am actually having them now do our gutters covers. If you are looking for a trustworthy, dedicated, and customer-minded company then Bone Dry Roofing is my recommendation."

"MCG did an excellent job in all areas of this contract. Starting from our initial face to face meeting, finalizing an agreement, as well as the start and completion of the new roof install and gutter installation. Couldn't be happier!"

"They were expensive but good. They were experienced. The price I really didn't know if that's high so it might be comparative to the people especially when they took off the old, put on brand new roof. They didn't put new wood on, but they took off the old and put on the new roof, so it was probably okay. I'm not a roofer but I'm sure that it was good. I got up to 20-year guarantee on it. I put the letter that I approved to have him to do it, and he never did get back to me at all. I had to call them like two weeks later, but what had happened, he had a big mailbox at the front of his house, I guess they didn't really use and then a regular mailbox, and I put in the big mailbox since I thought was for the roofing stuff. They never even opened that box up. So, I called up, then he went out and found that my insurance okayed it. The guys were really nice. I didn't see the owner really anymore it's the guys that work me, and they're all were nice to me."

"A huge shout out to Chad and his team at Matterhorn Exteriors for superb work and craftsmanship on my new roof. Chad made the process easy, and taught me a lot about roofs as we progressed. He regularly checked in and went above and beyond to ensure all needs were met. The crew left the area clean with no trace of building supplies or debris anywhere. I am very appreciative of Chad and his team and I could give Matterhorn a high enough grade on the scale here. Easy to do business with + quality work = a win on all fronts. If you need a new roof or any exterior work, reach out to Chad at Matterhorn Exteriors!! Bev Shoemaker"

"Our new roof installations could not have gone better from the bidding process until the end of the project. There were always 2 Field Operations Managers onsite from the beginning to the end of each day. Communication was always available and professional. It was a very well-coordinated major event. Our residents have been most complimentary. Crown Exteriors performed all the work within 7 workdays. Remarkable! Our residents experienced minor inconvenience for a very limited time. Any building started was completed the same day. At the end of each workday, the property was left in the same condition as it started. Spotless. Including the obvious need for overnight parking, each resident was back to their normal life within 36 hours. This was a very large job. The cost was well into the hundreds of thousands of dollars and they were highly competitive with their pricing. Anytime you take on a project this size there are going to be mishaps. Those that took place were very minor and most importantly, most were remedied that same day or within 24 hours. While those requiring outside services were trivial and few in number, they were completed within 2 weeks. Crown Exteriors always did what they said they were going to do when they said they were going to do it. As someone who was heavily involved from beginning to end, I highly recommend Crown Exteriors. They must be considered for any size project."

"Drew Krueger came out because we were out of town during a storm in our area and we didn't know if our roof was hit or not. His time on our roof cost us nothing, he is very good at dealing with insurance companies, fully explained our roofs condition, and what the insurance company would do. We do not need a new roof, so he did not try to sell us one. I know Drew personally and I know his company will give you the highest quality materials and install, no matter what the insurance company is willing to do. Crown really goes to battle for you!!"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Dorsey, IL

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
