"This is the company you want working on your yard! Matt is exceptional to work with - proactive and willing to discuss project ideas and solutions. We hired Four Tree for an overhaul of our lawn starting with fall cleanup/removal of leaves, spring cleanup, dethatching, loam and hydroseeding, and ongoing mowing. Matt and his crew are incredibly thorough and our lawn has never looked better. Four Tree is by far the best landscaping company we have worked with - highly recommend them."

"It was an excellent experience.  They will be mowing my lawn on a bi weekly basis for the rest of the summer.  The cleanup and installation of mulch and stone was excellent.  They sent a team of about 8 men to my house and in about 3-4 hours everything was competed and looked so good.  Their pricing was competitive and I am so happy with my decision to go with Wade Landscaping.  Getting in touch with them took a little time, but it was because I called right in the middle of their extremely busy season.  I'm glad I waited for them though.  My house and lawn look so good. <br />"

"I was impressed with his efficiency and candor.  He was also helpful in directing me toward lawn tractors that I should consider for my next purchase.  It was a pleasant surprise when he stated he was going to make sure I got a refund of the $50 spent on the special offer. <br />"

"The interior job was excellent. The painters did a beautiful job, were responsive and polite, and a pleasure to work with! The price was good too. It looks really lovely. The exterior job was a bit of a nightmare. The preparation work was not done well and the paint job itself was haphazard and sloppy. Clarke painters and mgmt were unresponsive to repeated requests to remove old hardware from the trim before painting it, they did a poor job on the carpentry work that was required before painting, and the paint job itself was messy. After they had painted the trim around the roof and the bay windows, I asked them to alter the color slightly on the rest of the house and to repaint the bay windows. The new color was so close to the original that you couldn't really tell them apart from a distance unless the two colors were right next to each other. They agreed to do that, and then only repainted half of the bay window! If they had been worried about time and cost in order to complete this part of the house they should have asked for more money, but they didn't. In addition, the guy who was painting the detail work had no attention to detail. Paint ended up all over my storm windows, my basement window trim is half black and half yellow, the old paint on the front door showed through the new paint, etc. I asked the detail guy and his boss to please wipe the great streaks of paint off the storms, which he did in a couple of places, but after repeatedly complaining about the quality of the job with no response I eventually stopped asking and just wanted them to leave. It's incredible: there are no straight lines in this paint job -- this guy and most of the crew couldn't have cared less about the quality of their work and the owner of the company didn't really seem to care either. His response was that they had never painted a house as large or complicated as mine before. I've had to go over much of the job at eye level myself. The crew was young and inexperienced. I won't use this company again because I can't trust the quality of their work. It's too bad too, since they did such a nice job on the interior."

"The guys did an awesome job. They studied our septic plans to make sure that they wouldn't harm any parts of the system when pieces of the trees dropped, and they were careful with the equipment to make sure that they weren't rolling over the top of anything. They listened to everything I had to say if/when I had any concerns, asked questions if they weren't 100% sure of something, and even offered to do a couple of littlle extras for me while they were here. They completely cleaned up their mess before they left. It was a great experience and I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again. Their pricing was the best, their professionalism was the best, and I couldn't be happier with the results!"

FAQs for lawn care aeration projects in Dover, NH

Aeration is the best way to keep your lawn healthy and vibrant. Annual aeration makes your lawn more breathable and helps nutrients reach the roots, improving water absorption and reducing puddles where pests might breed. However, timing matters. It's best to avoid aerating during droughts, extreme heat, or if your lawn is battling weeds. A local pro can help you determine the ideal time for your yard.

Most lawns benefit from annual aeration to keep them healthy and thriving. If your lawn has a lot of thatch buildup—more than half an inch—you might need to aerate twice a year for a couple of years to get it under control. But if your soil isn't compacted and there's minimal thatch, you might be able to skip a year.

When you hire a professional lawn care company, a standard 10,000-square-foot lawn takes about 30 minutes to aerate. Uneven, sloped, or especially large lawns can take significantly more time. So, depending on your lawn's size and condition, the process can take anywhere from half an hour to several hours.

The best time to aerate your lawn is during the spring or fall when your grass is actively growing and the soil has enough moisture. Aerating once in the spring and once in the fall yields the best results. Avoid aerating when your lawn is dormant or right after heavy rain when the soil is too wet—that can make aeration less effective.

Even if your lawn looks healthy, aeration can still be beneficial. If you have good growth, proper drainage, and little thatch, you might not need to aerate right away. Regular aeration helps water and nutrients reach the roots, keeping your lawn strong over time. Keep an eye on your lawn's condition to decide when it might need aeration.
