"Wow! Much better than I could have anticipated. Day one the crew came and tore off the existing shingles and prepped the roof for the shingles. There was a lot of work done at this stage and our home was waterproofed had it rained, which I appreciated. Prior to this, a dumpster was placed to the side of our home so as to not block the entrance to our garage. This was really nice of them but it made them have to walk further! Day two the shingles were delivered, and on day three the crew returned and the job was finished in hours. The GAF system that J & N uses is a superior system and it makes my shingling job of 24 years ago on our home pale by comparison. A competitor of J & N's gave me a bid about the same price but only after asking what other bids were. His is the most reviewed company on Angie's list. The bid Norm gave me and the final price would have been the same, but Norm installed ridgevents and removed the roof vents and patched the roof vent holes at my request and also because Norm felt the ridgeventing is better than roof vents. Clean up was very thorough all days. No flat tires or nails found. A couple of neighbors did their shingles at the same time and I have to say in my biased point of view that ours is by far the best looking roof of all. I found it easiest to text Norm to contact him and he was good about returning texts. I would use his company again but I expect this roof to last longer than me at my age of 63! Thanks guys!"

"Ernie Haas provided a very thorough examination of our roof which enabled us (after much back and forth with our roofer (DCF Contracting)) to ensure that all necessary and required repairs were made to our roof. Mr. Haas stayed in contact with us for more than a month to ensure that any questions or issues we had were addressed."

"I think this is a reputable company with an excellent product.  However, I regret not visiting the showroom or requesting more than a single tile of the color/design of the bartile.  I drove by a couple of houses in my area where the company had installed roofs, but they were larger, two story houses, with high pitched detailed roofs.  I have a rambler.   Are exterior designers available in Utah?  I wish I would have used one.  Or, how about a software program that shows how the product will look on the home, is that an option?  I did express my desire to put the roof tile sample on the roof but was told it wouldn't help the decision process. The color I finally selected looked different to me when it was installed (lighter) and I was told it will even lighten up as it ages.  I would have also selected a different design.  I think bartile takes on a different appearance depending on the slope, style, and size of the roof.  When I realized the color/design was not aesthetically appealing to me, it was too late to start over.  The roofers are fast.  Communicaton with them was a problem for me.  I called and asked if the installation could be stopped until I met with someone.  After expressing my disappointment in the look of the roof, the owner took some time to show us some completed projects and said he would remove the roofing at his cost, approximately $7,000, if I wanted to select a different color/design and start over.  I just couldn't spend an additional $7,000, so I am hiring a professional painter to change the exterior appearance of my house to better match my new roof.  When I drive into my garage I keep my eyes down because I think I made a costly mistake in the selection process of this product.  I would advise others to see a completed roof on a home that is of a similar size and design, not just a picture and single sample tile, before making a final decision."

"<p>Our point of contact was Gary Courtright who did an excellent job in communicating, estimating, and coordinating the repairs and roofing shingle replacement for our rather large and expansive home in Fruit Heights, Utah, where in some years, the canyon winds through our town can exceed 100 MPH.  After 25 satisfactory years on our old roof, we contracted Kimball to complete some extensive roofing plywood repairs, re-flashing, re-membraning, and re-edging of the entire 6,000 SF roof.  Per Gary's expert advice, plus Louie and Rohojolo outstanding installation, we ended up with a very attractive and fully sealed roof that will probably last twice as long as our previous roof.  We now have a Tamko 50 year architectural shingled and ridged roof that can now withstand winds up to 150 MPH.  SUPER. JOB WELL DONE !</p>"

"I have had multiple excellent experiences with Ram Builders. They have expertly repaired damaged stucco, installed a new window and completely resurfaced the exterior of my home. Shaan Sanderson was prompt, professional and accommodating. His crew was lead by a highly capable leader (Juan I think) who was committed to completing all work to the highest standards. If you want the work done right, call Ram."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Duchesne, UT

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
