"HORRENDOUS EXPERIENCE! They came out, stated my installed tankless system needing repiping didn’t have a recirculating pump built in & recommended I get one. They quoted $99/hour for labor & parts are separate. Stated there were no options for an external pump (not on market) & wanted me to purchase their system with one built in requiring to uninstall NEW system & install their system (thousands more) & stated it would require 2 men for 8 hours of work & appointment was booked. After researching, there are both universal recirculating pumps for tankless systems & the brand I had made an external pump specifically for the system I bought. When I told them this & that I would only need to have the system already in place properly pipped with external pump installed, they became hateful from that point on & demanded I had a non-working outlet next to system fixed before they would do any work (didn’t have this demand when I booked appointment with their system). I had already fixed the outlet but the lady who answers the phone repeatedly stated no work would be done until outlet fixed, even after I told her I heard her the first 5 times & would ensure it was done, she continued demanding every communication in a hateful tone, multiple times each communication. Was told I would get a new bid with their tankless system removed & labor hours adjusted, it took a week to get it & just 2 days before the appointment. I was shocked to see the bid was still high ($1300) since the system was already installed but only needed repiping & recirculating pump installed. I sent an email, I only requested to know how many hours they expected to need that day, she responded by telling me the appointment was cancelled & I should find another plumber. They cancelled 2 days before because I dare ask how many hours were needed on a $1300 estimate. Not only did they not know of universal recirculating pumps for tankless systems, or lied to sell me their system, but they wanted 11-12 hours of work (estimate not detailed so I estimated $100-200 for some parts) to repipe an already installed system & install a external pump. They are dishonest people & cancel if you inquire about the estimate which I believe was highly bloated. I will never use them again, buyer beware!!!"

"The person performing the service had to make several trips because one of the "new" parts turned out to be faulty. I found both Complete Protection and their local repair contractor to be both very responsive and totally professional at every stage of the repair process."

"Repair Clinic sent me a water intake valve that had some scuff marks and an unnecessary fixture (which I thought nothing of, assuming it had been removed from a new dishwasher). When the part did not fix my dishwasher's issue, I ordered a circulation pump, which also failed to fix the issue, so I decided to return both parts. Repair Clinic blamed me for the scuff marks and extra fixture, which is unacceptable. They referenced their return policy which states that parts which have been installed cannot be returned, and denied me any form of refund. For all I know, the water intake valve was defective, and I have no recourse. Don't put any stock in the "No-Hassle 365-Day Returns" they proudly tout on their homepage. Instead, expect finger-pointing and uncaring dismissal. You are better off with one of their many competitors."

"I have worked with the company three times in the past. The first time when I purchased a property and I had them test the well to check the gallons per minute it was producing. The tech they sent out had no idea what they were doing and could not figure out what the well actually produced. The second time, they sent the same guy out with his supervisor. They then figured out the pump was a 5 gallon per minute pump and that they could only determine the well was producing what the pump was allowing. That was 4 years ago. Now giving them a third try... Thinking they tried to make things right, I gave them a third chance to come out and try to diagnose another issue. Was my pump bad, or was it the control unit? The tech they sent had figured out the control unit was bad (burnt up inside, which we already knew) and that he would test the pump to see if it was still functioning. After working on it for 10 minutes....just 10 minutes...he determined the pump was bad and that we needed a new one. He seemed to be pulling the power just before the flow would start. He called the shop and said that he could replace the pump in two days, with one that pumped half the amount and that it would cost around $6000 and that we needed to make a decision quickly while they still had them. I told him I had to think about it and sent him on his way. Thinking he was pushing overly hard for a sale , I hooked up my own generator to the pump....and the water started flowing just fine. I called their shop, explained the issue to numerous people and said I was having an issue paying for a service call where the tech misdiagnosed the issue and was trying to not only sell me a unit that was not needed, but then take the better pump that was still working. After a a few calls and many minutes on the phone we then came to an agreement... ....Fool me three times, shame on me.... ...I would buy a new control unit from them and then they would install it and I would then pay them for the original service call. Knowing that my property is still under 4' of snow, they kept sending me late bills until I called the office one last time. They said the guy in charge of my "file" was out on leave and that they would talk with him and we would work something out when he returned. I just got a collections notice not even 20 days after I talked with him. At this point I will be notifying the Better Business Bureau and having my attorney contact them. Not doing a good job is one thing, but trying to defraud customers is illegal."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Dutch-Flat, CA

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
